dave_uk
Hi, Has anyone bought one of these and if so are they any good? Cheers, Dave LINKY
hotdog
I know people have fitted them, but I'm not sure if they would work with the wider R32 seat wings. Might be worth contacting the seller I thought about one myself as my mates skoda has the as standard and it was fantastic!
boxerdogted
I bought a genuine one after reading all the negative feedback on these.
boxerdogted
They do fit allright on a five door (you dont have to fold the seat forward on these).

boxerdogted
I bought mine from ebay and then bought a fitting kit from VW.They usually fetch about £65.00 inc fitting kit secondhand.
MagiK
I just bought one from eBay for £53, which includes fitting kit & instructions. Will let you know how I get on.
v6tas
Well i had one in my previous 4 Motion and it was nothing but a pain. If you used it to store anything it rattled and it got in the way of gear changing i found. Maybe that could have been due to the distance i had the seat away due to my long legs but i used to just put it up out of the way. Im really glad my 32 didnt have one when i bought it otherwise it would have been removed !. Just my findings but you did ask !
Mook
An OEM one will fit no problem. I can't speak for the after-market ones as I have yet to find someone who has fitted one bought from Lithuania, or wherever the heck they're copied. Sorry, manufactured. Helfinger has got an OEM cloth version from another Golf on his 3 door R32 and it fits fine. He's just waiting to get it retrimmed in leather / "leatherette" to match the rest of the interior. MagiK
Fitted in about an hour. Straightforward too. No rattles when driving. Pleased with it. Doesn't rub on the seats either.
Mook
Good call Magik Was it a one off, or did it come from a "Power-Seller" - need to say that in a big deep Americanised voice to get the right effect
MagiK
No it came from a guy who had about 10 of them on eBay at the same time. Can't see any on there right now tho.
dave_uk
Hi all, This arrived in today's post LINKY. The quality all seems OK to me and for £31.84 including delivery all the way from Hong Kong I am not complaining. It has come complete with all brackets and bolts and all I need to do is fit it! Although it won't be this weekend as car is booked in at stealers for 7 - 10 days to investigate gearbox vibration when in sixth gear Another reason not to complain is that they have sent me 2 complete units instead of one by mistake I will update in a week or so when I get my car back and its installed. Regards, Dave
dave_uk
Hi, Following on from my post above, I have finally got the car back from the stealers (in for 3 weeks to sort out gearbox vibration ) and am about to fit the arm rest. As it came with no instructions can someone help me with a quick guide on how to install please. Cheers, dave_uk
MagiK
Dave, Check out the beginning of the post in the URL below for instructions. It doesn't tell you how to fix the arm-rest, but tells you how to get to the fittings needed for fixing it. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=958556 Its pretty straightforward. You don't need to completely remove the centre console, just lift it up so as you can get enough room to fix the arm rest mounting bracket. Cheers MagiK
