roohster
Coupla questions; 1)Can anyone tell me what bulb fitting a 2000 S3 ("facelift model") uses? It's fitted with xenons, but I'd like to upgrade the main beam and fogs to a whiter light. 2) How do you get at the bulbs?! 3) Can I adjust the dipped beam? It seems to be set way too low. Thanks! doogal1972
Not sure if you can change just the bulbs or not in the other lights but xenons are self leveling so they can't be adjusted.
roohster
Not sure what you mean by "just change the bulbs"....
doogal1972
I wanted to replace just a lense on one of my foglights as it was smashed, and was told you can only buy the whole light as one unit.
roohster
yeah, but you wouldn't have to replace the whole unit, I'm just talking about the bulbs....

khufu
I swapped my sidelight bulbs for white LEDs. They look a lot better with the Xenons but arent stricly legal. Have got better H7 headlight bulbs in but cant rememeber the make, probably phillips. Some S3 owners suggest disconnecting the power to the adjusters and set them yourself. The manual ajuster in on the top, its white and shaped like a cog (i have pre-facelift lights though)
roohster
Thanks Khufu, I want to change the sidelight, foglights and main beams.... so is that H7 for main beams? Ive found the white coggy thing... will that adjust them without disconnecting?
roohster
Ok, now Im officially confused... according to the link posted by Hopsta, the main beam is an H4 fitting. I thought H4 was a dip/main bulb (ie does both)?

roohster
Ok, I think I'm sorted... the xenons can be adjusted via the white nylon screws above the units... and apparently main beam and foglights are both H7s. PIAA here I come!
