loddrik
Software upgrade?
CarMad
I have a 2.0 T Sportback and I don't have any problems with the gearbox like that. The worst I get is a slightly less smooth change down to 1st after Ihave been in manual mode. But I wouldn't call it clunky at all. In normal driving its superb and a smooth as you like in any mode of driving. D / S or manual. People have mentioned a software upgrade but I don't know anyone that has had one. I have a later 04 car so mine won't have the latest software but its still fine. I would take it to the dealer and see what they say.
DukeDesmo
The only time mine gives a rough gearchange is sometimes if hard on the brakes down to a stop & I change from 2cnd to 1st it will 'overblip' the throttle making the car jerk forward a little due to not having synch'd the revs correctly - but it only does it sometimes. Does anyone know what's the situation with software upgrades? (DSG and/or ECU) is there one for my car (March 2004 3.2 DSG), as it's due for a service soon and I would like to know wether to ask the dealer for it or not, also if there is an 'upgrade' would it be free or would the the dealer charge for it? mrzed
Not sure about the 3.2 but I have a 2.0T that I got in March though I think it was from the first batch imported to Japan so maybe from October 2004. Anyway, I had the ECU updated a couple of months ago.
h5djr
There is a thread about the DSG on the TT forum. In there Audi were asked about a software upgrade for the DSG. This is their reply: One of the mis-conceptions is that there exists a 'software patch' to cure some or all of the 'DSG problems'. This is not the case. There is (currently) just one software 'fix' and this relates to one specific rare complaint: 'All my gear indicators are flashing and it will not select a gear ,but okay on restarting again!' This software fix is not applicable to any other fault, and is actually created for each individual TT that exhibits this fault. And it's sent direct to the dealer from Germany! Fergy
Hi Mark, driving my 2.0T DSG today and on downchange there was no clunking but a longer delay whilst foot off the gas. Not present when foot still accelerating. Hope this helps
gordie1973
Hi All, Had a funny one last night, stuck in traffic (A3 at Esher) dropped her into neutral whilst stopped, then into drive to move off - nothing!..... Tried neutral then drive and then sport...still nothing. Eventually switched off and restarted, this seemed to cure it. Has anyone had a similar experience? Cheers, Kahuna 3.2 Q DSG PS - Apologies to anyone caught behind me for what felt like the longest 60 seconds of my life!

DukeDesmo
Had something similar about a year ago, Car started OK in 1st but then kept jumping in/out of gears, tried manual and the gear indicator showed gears but nothing, eventually it just went into neutral (in traffic) and wouldn't move at all. Switched off and restarted and has been fine since, I took it to the dealer who could find nothing wrong. Around the same time I also had a couple of occasions, again straight after startup, where the car had strange faults/errors; ABS, Power steering in all cases it clears if I stop/restart. Strangely it has not done it recently. I wonder if Microsoft did the software...

h5djr
Definetly not Microsoft or you would have to close all windows and open them again to get it working again.....
