andyf
Im planning on changing my gamma head unit for an aftermarket one and removing the in dash cd changer but cant find a facia adaptor or tray anywhere on the internet. Does anyone know where I can get one.

andyf
I take it I just order it through my dealer then, presume it comes with necessary fittings.
TP27
Could try vag parts first. Great service! www.vagparts.com
Decked
it all depends on which dim slot you fit the headunit. I put mine in the top. The tray has been made to fit in the top therefore the tray is upside down in the car. This doesn't sound like a problem but you'll notice some slots on the tray that will now be on the bottom. You can just see them here, if you look close. It's not a problem, to be honest nothing goes in here as everything would come flying out when you put your foot down. calumcousins
if you ask your local dealer really nicely, they'll probabally part with one for a beer or two - this is how i got mine anyway, for the bargain price of £1! They'll usually have a few kicking around from when they've fitted cd players/changers into golf's/polo's etc. You can get them for either the top or bottom DIN slot too - its pretty self explanatory when you get it, it'll only go in one way up as there are holes on one side of it, and it just clips in - piece of phish! BigMeanBob
Anyone know if there are any aftermarket head units that can use the OEM VW 6CD changer? I seem to remember reading that it is possible to get an adaptor that lets you use a OEM boot changer with most head units, but wonder if it is the same with the dash one? b0b
calumcousins
don't think its possible bob, not with the in-dash ones anyway. I could be wrong tho...
Decked
You don't happen to know the part number for the bottom din do you?

FiftyPence
I just bought a double DIN head unit!!
BigMeanBob
I am still tempted by the double-din idea. Especially the kenwood units....however, I've grown rather accustomed to the 6 cd in the dash. I really can't be bothered with having a changer in the boot....seems like such a step back...so the other option is to try and keep the current changer... Spent a while with google but no luck so far.... Have found loads of adapters to allow use of 3rd party changers with VW headunits though.... b0b
andyf
Dont think you can get one that still uses the indash changer so im going for a new head unit and ipod adaptor to get rid of all the cd's i have in the car.
