  1. 1. If I heard Bangle had just signed up to be head of Design at Audi, I would

    • Have to go to the nearest bar and drink to forget. A Bangle designed Audi... *shudder*
    • I wouldn't be bothered, really.
    • I quite like Bangle's designs...
    • Laugh, because I don't like Bangle and I don't like Audi much and then maybe BMWs would start looking reasonable again!

I think the Citroen C1/Peugeot 107/Toyota Aygo as its a good design in that it set out to make a cheap but good car.

As for the others ... whats special about them. Car of the year in my book should have something thats moved cars on. And a Passat hasn't moved cars forward in anyway. suicide.gif

I voted for the 159, but I expect the C1/107/Aygo will get it.

The Passat's a very nice car, probably be my second choice on there, but that's just cos the 159 and Passat are cars I could imagine myself driving. Just.

And why's the Yaris on there - new version? Great little car by the way, my sister's got one.

Technologically, and because of how stunningly well the car drives, I would vote for the 3-series.

However, I'm still not convinced by it's looks. No, change that, I think it looks horrible.

That said, should it get the vote because to date it has pretty much decimated any opposition they have tested it against.

I went for the Citroen C1/Peugeot 107/Toyota Aygo, designed from the outset as a cheap car, rather then the normal way of cost cutting after the final design process. And actually brings something to the market, cheap motoring to the masses.

I would like the Alfa 159 to win it, but at about 22k for the base models and the dimensions and weight lurking in 166 territory rather then the out going 156 it's probabaly going to make a great second hand buy.

And I also thought what the hell is the Passat doing there too. ZZZ.gif

The price doesn't come into it though, as I remember the Porsche 928 winning it in 1970 something...........

What a fine car that is/was!

Can't remember anything more memeorable that has won it?!

Surely a car needs to be innovative and ground breaking to win?!

The Passat moves NO further than the last one (but looks good), the 3 series is the dullest executive car looks wise EVER, the 159 is still just a 156 that's eaten too many pies - It will still fall apart, the Clio is dull, the Yaris is boring.

That leaves the Mazda 5 and the Toyota Aygo.

Hmmmm....

Possible seems expensive simply because there were so many deals around on 156s. A supermarket favourite, reps were taking them over Mondeos and Alfa cashed in. Don't blame them.

Similarly, E46 320d SEs were going for just 21k at car supermarkets unregistered not long after the Oct 2001 facelift. BMW then fought back and launched a ES model (late 2002 early 2003??) for 21k list. It seemed to have pretty much all the SE had minus the interior light pack and a few other bits. A new style of alloys and standard sport suspension - no prizes for guessing their target market. Makes the 25k now asked of the E90 320d SE seem very expensive.

Edit. Voted for the Citroen of course! tongue.gif
