silentandy
I seem to remember when I ordered my car back in Feb that if you had the option of the multi-function steering wheel it came with cruise control. Is this still the case with 06 models? For those that have the MFSW do you think it's worth having?
mu71rd
face it Andy - you're just going order everything aren't you!
MK5001
if u can take full control on MFSW of those "leaving/home coming lights, door lock, audio/FM/CDs...." ... yes ... u have it WITH THE LOT.... but in my case, (HK that is) ... those 05 model CAN take control of those thing, and on my 06 spec, my right hand side bottoms on MFSW can only check those stupid trip computer .... NOT EVEN FM/CDs !!! and left hand side bottoms .... vol ONLY !!!
MK5001
p.s. and the dealer did NOT mentioned to my about this ... not even we they hand her to me .... until i compare a 05 GTI at the show room ...
silentandy
hehe not quite, only questioning the ones I didn't have the first time round I test drove a car that had the MFSW but couldn't quite work out what all the buttons did. It also had the highline comp and didn't have the control on the end of the wiper stalk but instead used the controls on the steering wheel. I found that more awkward at the time. gribs
I can't answer your original question Andy - although I do think the options changed at some point. Cruise came with my 06 model and I think I've used it 3 times. On all occasions I turned it off quite quickly. I find it's no use at all on the regular roads I drive. Too much traffic and variable speeds means I'm not going to get much use out of it. It's certainly something I could live without.
RedRobin
I'm the same as gribs....Don't know the answer to your quezzie. I expect some will disagree with me but having Cruise on a car like the GTI seems ridiculous and out of character. I have never used it on my 06 spec car and doubt if I ever will. aswall
If you like using Cruise Control, like I do, then you will have it on any car you have regardless of type. I wouldn't buy a car without cruise, in anything from a Jaguar to a Porsche
RedRobin
....Once again proving how different we all are. I simply don't feel I'm in so much control with Cruise and it simply doesn't work for me mentally. Takes away all my driving enjoyment. Each to their own. gribs
I can see the benefits of it on an open road, or where everyone else has it set to the same speed. But locally there's just very little opportunuity here, except maybe in the middle of the night when the roads would be quieter.
aswall
No, I use it all the time on long journeys. Maybe not as much of an option in the Sarf as you're all driving nose to tail at 15mph anyway
RedRobin
Huh? Where do you get the "nose to tail at 15" idea from? On the M25 but not the Sarf West.
gribs
Have just been out and tried it again on a deserted road. I can imagine it's great on a long motorway haul, or on the continent. Dahn in the Sarf East we ain't got no chance in daylight 'ours . Am planning a trip to Cornwall soon, so may try it out a bit more then. To be honest though the A303 is a road deserving of sports mode and paddles
