markh1970
Have ordered one from Vindis Cambridge. No.1 on their list. Not very well advertised though.....

jagseven
I read on another forum that they go on sale on 18th November.....not sure if this is true. On the same forum someone else (in the Uk) says they have already seen one at their dealer ready to have all the plastic protection removed etc My dealer hasn't called me yet asking for any spec details yet, so I don't know what to believe. Mook
Ring them up then Jag! Going on sale and delivery are two very different things though. You can still safely assume that if you ordered one now you wouldn't take delivery until the second quarter of next year.
Smudge
Right, a couple of facts. Just spoken to VW HQ. There are currently TWO MkV R32's in the country that are the VW Press Office cars, possibly booked in for test drives in all the mags & TV programmes etc etc. (Take a mental note of those reg plates when you see them) As for ordering, the chap I spoke with was pretty darn useless, he said speak to your dealer, to which I said, I have (even though I haven't) spoken to a couple and none seem sure when I can order one. He couldn't comment any more on that. But he did say they were being built to order, and any UK stock will be into the UK from the start of November. If a dealer has requested one as a dmeo car, they will allocate them to the dealers they feel best suited etc etc. So basically, no real developments, other than there are two here already then! 1monty
Sounds like the same unprofessional attitude that I got when the original R32 was about to arrive on the scene! These VW sales people are amazing! How do they sell anything without demos/test drives?

Biggest mistake ever, going for an early car & driving it loads more than anyone else in the country.
robin09
I would buy an RS3 without driving it. If only...
TP27
I am ordering a new R (some day soon!) and indeed I have been promised a Test Drive. Here-in lies the issue :- 1) When will my Stealer have his Deomnstrator delivered? 2) When can I physically place my order with VW. If 1) comes before 2) then If not, it's another "blind" car purchase for me!!
Wallachie
So you've made your mind up already TP?? New R32 coming to Edinburgh then!?!?! Nice choice, I see Evo Magazine gave it a great review. Did you try the M3 coupe?
Mook
[ QUOTE ] How do they sell anything without demos/test drives? [/ QUOTE ] 1) People buy the brand 2) People trust the reviews from authoritative sources like EVO and CAR Magazine, as well as Top Gear etc. It's still fecked up though - it would be a lot easier if they published some real dates on their web site for when you can order and when you will get a test drive. Allocating demonstrators to "selected dealers" can at first seem a backward way of doing things, but it comes down to commercial realities and best business practice - those dealers that have committed to selling X new R32s in the next 12 months with a proven track record get first shout, so the smaller dealers in the more remote parts get pushed down the list. Me? I don't care right now. I cancelled my original reserve order as soon as I saw the first pics. I'm warming to it (in black only) and still need to see one in the metal before I decide... TP27
[ QUOTE ] So you've made your mind up already TP?? [/ QUOTE ] Yup, taking the plunge!! MrMe helped me big time on searching for an M3 but in the end I've decided to stick with VW. I have no idea at all as to when I can verify my order with VW or when delivery will happen but hey, I'm easy!!
jimbor32
Add another new R32 to Edinburgh - I ordered about two months ago - by all accounts the dealer has four confirmed orders.

markh1970
Well got a call from VW. Can order car 1st November. Will see whether they get a test car (Vindis Cambridge). If they do I will post, and you can call up.
AGK512
Thanks Marky. I'm in touch with my local dealer in the midlands and would prefer a test drive before spending the hard earned. Will see what your cambs dealer says if they get a demo. BTW nice little 7 on the avtar. Used to sprint/hillclimb a westfield a few years back but it's off the road at the moment. Cheers
