Si_GTi
Hi everyone, Well it's nearly time for me to get my hands on a shiny new Dell flat-panel monitor, and I have a choice! Originally I was going to get a 1905FP 19" TFT with height-adjustable stand etc, looks like this: Or I can have a 2005FPW 20" widescreen TFT again with height-adjustable stand, as below: At the moment I have an E173FP (already provisionally sold on!), so either of the above is a good upgrade from what I have at the moment. Ignore the costings, I can afford the 20" model if it really is worth the extra cash! Which one should I go for? 20" widescreen or 19" regular aspect? Help! AntW
I would go for the 20" widescreen one. Higher resolution, faster response time and more inputs. Its also the one I am looking at as I can't quite justify the 24" panel
Omi
My 24" panel is the best thing ever... Widescreen is ace.
AntW
I have cut out 2 piece of cardboard the relative sizes and keep propping them up against the monitor to see which will work best. The 24" panel is a squeeze, but it looks like it could win over in the end, although it will need a little extra saving for

Thorburn
Between those two........... No contest, 2005FPW I love mine
Si_GTi
If I get the 2005FPW, does it always use the full width of the screen whilst using Windows? Would be a waste if any of my programs were incompatible in some way with the widescreen functionality! Mostly though I use the PC for Internet, e-mail and Winamp so I can't see much of a problem... there is the odd bit of CounterStrike sometimes but if that is the only thing that would run in a 4:3 aspect then I can live with that It's £299 net until the 26th of October from Dell and if we place a large enough order (some of my colleagues are having new laptops/workstations ordered this week) I may be able to get a bit of a discount... hard to say! Here's hoping...
gmarks1
I've got the 2405FPW - absolutely awesome - especially now that I've got used to the size, having upgraded from a 14" LCD - at first it was kind of like sitting in the front seats at the cinema! If the 24" is too big/expensive - I'd go for the 20" widescreen.
Omi
CS will run in non-square mode. No more excuses... Go wide. 24" is best...
Si_GTi
I can't deny that the 24" screen is most impressive, but I really can't afford it on my meagre wages. Looks like the 2005FPW wins over the FP1905 though - quite right OmiHemps, no more excuses!
Thorburn
Or how about a nice 42" plasma (Photos taken with my phone, hence the less than perfect colour)
