Durrsaku
I am thinking about getting one of these, looking for a 1989-1990 reg, possible for weekend drive (for fun). I would like to hear what your experience is, if you drove or owned one. Anything i should look out for, pros and cons of owning one of this age. This one is Burti's from TSN Gallery. Snail
My mate had one, they are absolutely sensational cars, but he took months to find the right one, as most are shi##ers. I think he found his through the BMW owners club.
Thorburn
Sure Omi can give you plenty of advice on the E30, apparently they are a riot to drive and the 325 has the lovely straight-6 too. Make sure you get a decent one though.
NewNiceMrMe
Durrsaku...the BMW Car Club GB is a must for you. Go and have a look at their forums online and you'll get masses of advice - and possibly find a very cherished one too. They're fanatical about E30's. NewNiceMrMe
Hey, that reminds me, one of the members of our region (Northeast) has one. Here it is at our last meet:
sayerbloke
Is that 'M' badges on a car not so equipped? Looking very good though.
NewNiceMrMe
No, it's a proper M325i, they were a production model (I asked the same and 3 people jumped down my throat!).
sayerbloke
OK. Learn something new everyday. I knew the old shape 6 was a bit like that but didn't realise the E30 '3' was like that, too. Fair play to the owner then!
Cameo
I owned one for 3 years and the only mechanical things that went wrong were the radiator and exhaust. The radiator went 2 days after buying (hmmm!) and the exhaust was the original that went at 12 years old! Parts were fairly priced. Bodywork wise it needed a plate welding on the o/s sill and fron suspension turrets. All in all it was pretty cheap motoring. Before I got the A4 I looked at new E46 and was disappointed with the general build quality comnpared with my old E30. The car was one of my all time favourites but needs great respect when driving in the wet. I had the backend fish tailing countless times in the wet (even in a straight line) and despite it having a lsd. Thoroughly recommended but as has been said finding a good 'un now takes time and careful research.
Omi
Will keep my eyes open for a minter... PM me with a budget and specs you're looking for and if you want a buying guide? Cheers, Omi.
Durrsaku
Yes i would appreciate a guide please. I guess a good one is hard to find. I have had a look in the bmw club site and autotrader. Just a couple of things i would prefer are : black colour, leather, sunroof/aircon and not too high mileage, well the usual service history and stuff, maybe i am sking too much. let me know.
