cruiser647
An A8 has just gone for £2.8K on eBay. It was a 1996 A8 4.2 Q Sport with 172K miles. I should have bought it.............d'oh! but there will be others that might tempt me...... Good to hear that your buyer turned up Mark. The amount of cars re-advertised due to 'timewaster' is unbeleiveable!

cruiser647
The £4.7K I got for mine last year with 200K miles was great for me then!

[/ QUOTE ] I sold my 1995 4.2Q in june I think it was for £4500, 80K with FSH. I think with unleaded running at 95p+ it's really hitting the big cars resale value
willg60
I looked at your auction, you didn't make that much effort with the text and pictures...... just a tip for future reference (if your interested of course!), get as many photo's, especially close ups etc, as possible. When I sold mine, I did a link to photobox, where I had an album full of pics. I'm sure that's why I got a good price for it. I think also you limit your market big time by messing with the exhaust etc, I'm sure they sound great, but they must put off the vast majority of potential buyers. The 8 is defo a car you got to leave alone..... I'll probably get slated for that, but with so many people concerned about the resale value, aftermarket mods in this sector of car IMO are not the way to go. The 8/S8 says it all, without the mods... Without sounding like I'm contradicting myself.... I recon if you were to change the exhaust, just put one on either side, like an S4, then it's in theme per Audi, the quad looks like your copying an E46 M3..... [/ QUOTE ] Sorry m8 totally disagree, the zorst if anything boosted the selling power,i had 70 ppl watching when i pulled it out.It had reached £4699 with over 3 days left,so i still would of thought it might have gotto 6k.But as i was a noob to ebay i decided i would take the first offer over 5k,which i did for cash!5k was what i wanted and is what i got.Im happy... As for the A4 look tbh naaa, the quads are the way to go imo. If i was to buy a S8 the first thing id do was to have the zorst mod and a new set of 20`s on board. Each to his own i say,you may not like it but plenty do i think! Mark.. willg60
Each to their own.... I just don't think you need to put drain pipes on the back to enhance the car.... I agree they could do with a bit more grumble, but then thats not what they were built for. If you want to hear loud V8's, surely a TVR would be the best option? FYI, my QS had nearly 200 watchers!! Shame you didn't let the auction run, would have been interesting to see what it would have made, mine went up over a grand in the last day..... Anyway, you were happy with the price and that's all that matters, did look a nice car - as do all 8's! Maybe I'm getting old...... I was on the VW scene for 10 years with golfs and corrados, so maybe that's why I've seen enough bad exhaust pipes!
willg60
Can't really hear alot in those clips?? Svens sounded cool.... When I had my G60 Corrado rolling roaded at AMD, you needed ear muffs! You certainly wouldn't be stood there watching like that!
considering_a8
I've been looking at various A8's on ebay for the last few weeks and what is it with some people's mad idea of what their car is worth? There are cars which book at £8k private sale reaching something mad like £9k and still not meeting the reserve! Do they want to sell, or are they just trying to do a bit of amateur trading and finding out the hard way that a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it? There is an S8 which has just finished on there with a "Buy it now" price of £12k which is more than a dealer would ask and it would probably go for about £7k in an open car auction. I think it bid to over £9k and if I were the seller I'd bite their arm off bearing in mind the current petrol prices and the almost zero demand for large engined cars.
