craigs
Hi this is my first post here..I've got an audi a4 1.8 petrol 1996 model..The problem im having is..When i turn the key the car starts for about 2 seconds then just cuts out..Sometimes it will start normally straight away other times it can take anything up to 10 mins to get it running..When its running the car is fine..Any help would be really appreciated because its quite embarrasing when you've just filled up with petrol at a packed garage and then cant get it started Thanks in advance

stratty31
is the yellow key light flashing when it fails to start?...if so it has failed to recognise the key..could be a fault with the key, the reader coil or the dash panel..have you got a spare key..if so try that next time it fails..if it starts ok then you have a key fault, if not i suspect it will be the reader coil
