Frodo
Technically you are not browsing, you are making a connection via a unc path. Anything in the security event log of event viewer? Sounds as though you are making a connection because otherwise you wouldn't get accessed denied. However, when it says access denied does it then provide you with a secondary logon box? If so try local\administrator as the username and the password for the remote machine if they are not in a domain.

mb
Are you running F-Secure - the firewall blocked n/w browsing on my LAN - unless you "trust" the n/w adapter ?

aal234
try creating an identical login on both machines then try browsing. I had this problem between an xp home and win 2000 box.
Frodo
XP Home is crap in my opinion. Many of the things that work in professional, 2000, NT just don't work on Home.
aal234
actually i'm not sure if tom is running home, either way I agree it gets on my nerves as it takes the noddyness (is that a word) of XP to extremes! Also have you tried giving permissions to the username you are using on the root of c?
jpringle819
What you need to do is open the local security policy and go to computer configuration\windows settings\security settings\security options and look for the policy called Network Access: sharing and security model for local accounts. This should be set to classic. If you are trying to access the machine with an account with a blank you will need to find the policy accounts: limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only, and set this to disabled. The final thing you will need to do is configure a shared folder and set the sharing and ntfs permissions on this. James
