Went with my mate today to Christopher Neil in chesiure to look at a BMW Z4 2.5. Dealer offered him 11,500 for his A3. Its an 04 reg, 2.0 FSI standard model with 32k. Cherry red and only extra is cilmate control. Is this price fair? he thought he'd get more than that. confused.gif

Like any car, just depends on finding someone who wants that spec. Having said that, when I recently sold mine via Ebay, a couple of people phoned up saying they wanted a standard model not Sport, so there are definitely people out there looking for that spec.

If you are selling privately I can recommend Ebay. I had tons of calls and enquiries on mine. Autotrader just seems to generate loads of trade calls selling advertising (and ebay is a fraction of the cost)

That seems a good price. I must admit a complete lack of interest in BMW. I cannot explain it, it is a purely pathologic apathy for the whole blue propeller thing.

No offence to any BMW owners, I am sure many people are not excited by Audi's range.

So anyway, back to the point, I know nothing about Z4's sorry.

Good luck with your friend's motor.

That Beemer is sweet man, i'd have it over the 2.0 A3 any day.

Go back with a figure that the dealer can think about. If your mate advertises his A3 for £13k, he's more than likely gonna get about £12k MAX. Look at the 'cost to change'. If the Beemer is £19k and you get 11k for the A3 then in the worst case scenario your looking at a 'cost to change' of 8k.

So focus on that figure, look at what you want the difference to be and tell the dealer, then let him decide how he can get close to that, whether by discounting the Z4 or on the trade in. 169144-ok.gif

A dealer near me had a Cherry Red std A3 with beige interior for ages, couldn't appear to shift it. I've seen a few online on audi.co.uk under the used section too. The model (i.e standard trim), exterior colour (essentially burgundy) and interior colour go against it - unless perhaps you are a pensioner and like that sort of colour combo. I think the fact they know it will not shift easily is reflected in the price.
