4 beeps & alarm siren battery

Currently on starting up my 1999 A6 1.9 TDI I hear a series of beeps. Looking

at other forums etc. it seems to be a low voltage issue either with the main

battery or with the alarm siren batteries not holding their charge. The

problem only exists first thing in the morning which would lead me to believe

it has enough charge to go through the day but discharges at night. I rang

audi & the cost of a siren is £80 (and is a pain to fit I have since heard)

Has anyone else had and solved this problem - I believe it is quite common.

Had a similar problem on a 2001 a4,turns out that it was the door switch when it doesnt recognise when the door is shut, then the interior light stays on, using power, but even when the fault was cured i had to charge the battery as the alternator only sustaines the present voltage, but doesnt charge a flat or low battery
