Tunning a Civic Type-R

Its not publicised but ive been informed the i-VETEC-R is capable of putting up with 9k revs with re-programming of the ECU,Superchips or similar this will of course increase the revrange/power approx 15% from standard.

I have driven TYPE R's with aftermarket exaust wich was little difference and peformance air filter which seemed to affect bottom end power more than top end for some strange reason.

Whatever you do be careful as the warranty will be voided if you have any (honda will know how many revs the car was doing as it went bang, via ECU plug in!) regular mobil 1 oil changes (6k recommended) and if you can afford it some engine balancing may be in order too for long life!

Killa's Civic Type r was blown up at Santa Pod a while back. Blew a rod straight throught the side of the block. Hes now running a Turbo capable of 400bhp but having big issues with it. Sleeves sank and coolant and oil everywhere.

Civics are easy to tune only if you know what you are doing.

Email me [email protected] if you need some info on tuning a civic or integra. Jap specialist.

hi,i'm new to this forum!

i've just purchased a type-r about a month ago.

whats the best make of airfilter?

i have heard HKS is only good for turbos,so thats ruled out! i the best airfilter is apparently an AEM cold air filter for civic type-r's! has anyone got this?

i'd be grateful for any opinions

thanks...

Killer's car did not blow up at Santa Pod. The only problem he has had, was that the company that did the machining on his block did not do a particularly good job which led to a sunken sleeve. There are absolutely no issues with his turbo whatsoever. In fact he won this years Rotorstock event, won the RWYB at Santa Pod on 24th/25th June, and was also runner up in the Pro Class for Jap Show in June. Well done Killer!!!

Hope you found the bits you wanted on the CTR forum, but the best induction kit is the Gruppe M(expensive), then in no particular order, Comtech IceBox(Box, sounds stock), ITG(Box), AEM CAI(open cone, noisy) or Mugen(Box).
