S3ENVY
Hey Guys, so I was driving my friend home last night along quite a narrow road near my home when a fecking ML, (which I hate with a passion by the way), comes hurtling round the corner at about double the speed limit on my side of the road. To avoid losing the drivers side of my car, I decided to be at one with the kerb and subsequently now have deep battle scars on all 6 spokes of my front Avus wheel. What's the best bet, new wheel or refurbishment, I've got very limited money as the car is bleeding me, sugestions would be greatly appreciated. I didn't connect with a bang, just grazed along it, should I get the alignment checked too? If anyone is selling any wheels or have one they would like to sell I'd be very grateful. Cheers peeps! Just wish I had chased the and scuffed his wheels with his face, would've been a 7 point turn in that road however and the speed he was going I'd need my passport with me to catch him! ian_m
get the alignment checked!! you will probably find refurb to be a lot cheaper than getting a new one!
Chelsea Mick
Isn't it annoying when it isn't your own fault When you scuff your own wheels by just lack of concentration, you can cuss and swear at yourself all day Anyway, Wicked Wheels are a mobile outfit that will come to your home or place of work. If I remember correctly they charge about £50 per corner. A friend at work had all 4 done on his S4 and they looked very good. There might be an issue with colour matching the wheel with the others but it might be worth asking the engineer before you go ahead and have it done. Like AS says...It is definately worth getting the tracking checked, but not just the normal tracking. Get it checked by someone who does the 4 wheel digital alignment. Not just your local qûick-fit centre. Unfortunately this is going to cost you too. About £60 If you just run along the curb then it's probably ok but worth having checked all the same. Cheaper than having to replace the tyre every couple of thousand miles because it is scrubbing out... Good luck
Tomk
to be honest this has happened a couple of times to me now , and next time im going to just let the fker hit me and scrape down the side of my car...
S3ENVY
[ QUOTE ] next time im going to just let the fker hit me and scrape down the side of my car... [/ QUOTE ] You guys crease me up. I've just had a string of thing happen recently and it's annoying me now. 2 weeks ago I was sitting at some traffic lights when a council with an industial lawn mower showered my rear arch with stones, (still need to fix), 2 days later sitting in STATIONARY traffic a rock lands on my windscreen avoiding all 4 juggernaughts surrounding me, (got it repaired but almost crying now), and now this! Have been trying to keep the car immaculate but finding it impossible due to other peoples lack of respect, really annoys me! ...And to top it off I've been having to drive like I'm on a SAAB advert this morning to avoid pieces of 2x4 falling off a lazy fat fecking builders lorry all because he can't be bothered to secure it properly. Doesn't matter which lane I move into he's straight back in front of me! B@stards!
doogal1972
I know exactly how you feel mate. No sooner I tidy my car up (stone chips, smashed fogs and windscreens) some drops something off the back of his lorry or I find a recently resurfaced (and I mean resurfaced in the loosest possible terms) road covered in loose gravel ready to pummle my car! Sometimes I think fcuk it, why should I bother with a nice car?! But we do, and I suppose we should just live with it. Fcuking annoying though! S3ENVY
Completely true. Everyone keeps telling me..."Why bother with a car like that? Get yourself a nice cheap little runaround" Thing is, a cheap little runaround can't put a smile on my face everytime my right foot feels a little heavy, (which is often!!!) Ces't la vie, the price you pay I guess!?!

Tomk
thats not to bad shoul dthink it will be about £50 if you cant live with it , or try and do it yourself ?
S3ENVY
You don't think? Suppose at least it's not buckled, lets down the car overall don't you think if the wheels are a bit scruffy?
doogal1972
Ouch!! That looks nasty mate. The S3 I bought had refurbed wheels and I think they had been heavily curbed. I was getting this vibration from the front of my car and couldn't work out what it was. Changed the fronts to the back and hey presto, vibration stopped. I think it was something to do with the way the wheels were refurbed and filled, which in turn was unbalancing the wheel even though I've had the wheels balanced. Strange. S3ENVY
Yeah, I'm a bit dubious as to whether having it refurbed is the way to go. Anyone know what these retail at new? Saw £191 on vagparts and thought it was a little steep, suppose it is OEM though. Debating now whether I should just go for a set of .:R32 rims, have wanted those for ages, just the money really, they'd have to be replicas. How much do you think the stealers would charge for a new wheel fitted with balancing and alignment? Probably not worth considering!!!
fingermouse
get those wheels washed , id just get it refurbed the damage is not that bad and they should do it easy. Dont think the R32 wheels really suit the S3 but each to there own. The classic (if not over popular) 9 spokes look nice.
S3ENVY
[ QUOTE ] get those wheels washed [/ QUOTE ] I was waiting for that one, asked for it really! Got any recommendations on who to use for a refurb? 9 spokes are very nice admittedly, however, wanted something that looks OEM but different to everyone else.
