robin09
If that is the only concern, sounds fine to me, only has two 'actual' owners. Finance company wouldn't be shown on log book on a normal hire purchase agreement.
Mook
If the car was obtained from the dealer on contract hire (e.g. through VWFS) then it would show on the V5 document. The number of owners have never made any difference when I've come to selling a car. The only thing I would check is that the mileage is correct - go right through every receipt and talk to the previous owners as well as the garage(s) where any work on the car has been done. robin09
A finance company have 'an interest' in the car, but they do not show on the log book as an owner if done through a dealer Mook.
Mook
Sorry Robin, you're wrong. If you take a car via VWFS or another finance company on contract hire (which is the key here), the finance company's name appears on the V5 - if you take it on PCP or HP, your name will appear on the document. I've had three company cars on contract hire and they all had VWFS on the V5.
helfinger
it would put me off, there are pleny 1 owner ones around i would keep looking....
Oatz
Have just discovered that the detail of owners is slightly different: 1)VW dealer 2)Private bloke who then decided to give it to his wife so registered it in her name! (doh!) 3)Private owner
robin09
Ah sorry, I was only talking hire purchase (HP), as that is the only Finance we really offer out our dealership.
pomme
Im thinking along the same lines as Helfinger, in that perhaps they have all noticed a slight problem so got rid. Or just ragged it and got fed up. But as there are hundreds of 1 owner cars, why not go for one of these? Yeah it may mean travelling a little bit further to get it, but i would say its worth it. Golfgirl
My car was just under 12 months old when I bought it and I was told it had 1 previous owner. When the V5 came through it had in fact had 2. If I'd have known that I probably would have kept looking....
goodboy1451
I would be especially if the car has low mileage. There will always be the lingering thoughts of it not been well taken care of. I would rather hunt for a 1 or 2 owner one.
Oatz
[ QUOTE ] Sounds OK OATZ - let us know how you get on. [/ QUOTE ] Well.... I bought it! The guy is an extremley old friend of the family, this is the fifth car he's sourced for us, he's an ex. Merc principal and also Porsche UK principal so he knows what he's doing and I am particulaly fussy about my cars (as you can see from my previous posts....) The car is absolutley mint! So much better than any of the others iv'e seen. No chips, parking dings or anything. The Service history is spot on and even the low resistor fans work properly (every other i've viewed have been shafted) I'll be back in bit as I feel the need to hit some B roads! Thanks to everyone for help and advice Catcha later
