mataus
Hi Hopefully someone can give me some advice on this. I have an A4 Avant 2.4 V6, S/1998, 33k, with an auto/tiptronic box. Recently the changes between gears have been accompanied by a thump/thud. These are at any speed and at any power level. On two occasions the box has gone into a safe mode and remained in 3rd until its decided its safe to return to normal operation. This problem happens whether the box is in auto or tiptronic mode. There are also random changes of gear, such as 2nd to 4th when going up a hill or a heavy, and I mean heavy, 4th to 2nd when slowing down. Together with this, a small whining noise has developed, and appears at random when gear changing. Is this a gearbox or electronic fault, or both? Can anyone help with this? Many thanks Matt
Tobes49
Suggest a gearbox oil and filter change, But it is very low mileage so wouldn't have thought it would have been that dirty. Other thing is to have the ECU scanned for faults.
mataus
Ok thanks. Can the scan be done anywhere, or is it Audi dealer only? Many thanks Matt
