thewitney
Hi all. New to the site and this is the first post/question. I've a feeling this will have been asked before but I couldn't find anything on it through the search function. I'm fast approaching 80,000 miles and therfore a cambelt change. Due to cost I'd rather have services etc carried out by an áudi specialist rather than the main dealer. However, the few small garages I have spoken to so far say the A6's V6 tdi engine can only have the cambelt changed at a main dealer? Is this true? If anyone knows of companys that can do this (especially in the East Sussex area) please post on here. Many thanks. Mike
delboy24
I decided to replace my A6 2.5TDi cambelt at 75000 mles. A main dealer quoted over £1000 to do the job but i found a local Audi specialist (not main dealer) who did it for half that price. Look in yellow pages etc for a local Audi VW dealer, it will save you a fortune but don't hold out, if the cambelt does go, it will cost an awful lot more to repair. nicknick
I had my A6 2.5Tdi cambelt changed at main dealers about year and half ago and total cost was ballpark £600. Dealer has since been taken over by Sytner and the prices seem to have gone sky high...conincidence ? ( I was quoted £200 for just an oil change!)...still it is probably worth ringing around several dealers in your area to check if they all charge the same... charlie61
[ QUOTE ] ( I was quoted £200 for just an oil change!) [/ QUOTE ] £200 for an oil change any of the tyre centres will do an oil and filter chage with branded oil for less than £30, it's only 1 nut an oil filter and oil, how on earth can they justify £200 for 15 minutes work
