Rapidsquirrel
Hi all I have checked out TSN for a few months now and decided its time to join in. I got my motor in August this year. 1996 4.2q Burgundy with 85k miles and FASH. This is my first foray into the luxury car sector! Im loving it. (Apart from initial expensive bills care of the Stealer whom found 4 workshop pages worth of stuff to repair such as worn linkages, gaitors and new brakes etc, the rest was C catagory fixes that can wait till I have more money). They still told me it was a nice car! Since servicing I have had 5K trouble free miles, fingers crossed. However this AM I started the engine then heard a fast beating noise from the console/gearstick area. I applied the brake whilst stationary and the sound stopped, released pedal and noise returned . A little perturbed I gingerly started moving off and the noise has gone. What was it?????? -
Ska
Welcome to TSN! Are you sure it was near the shift stick? Proly the climate control/heater pots ticking over. its there most of the time but you notice it less on the move because of ambient noise. I think its a catagory C thing; if the a/c climate control is working then live with it or turn up the volume on your tom jones tracks cos it cost a bit to fix/ replace
Rapidsquirrel
Thanks for the info. - the climate control keeps me cool so I shall not worry about the ticking.
