simonb
Going to Ireland next Monday. Next taken my own car abroad. Any advice or tips on what i need to take would be much appreciated! Cheers. Oh yeah - GB sticker or GB plate?? I need to buy one of these 2 - which would you go for?? Is it worth spending £10 on a plate for a 10 day break, or should i just go for a crappy looking sticker for £2 from Halfords??
dazdot
If you look at the web site of the ferry company you are travelling with, it will give you some pointers there. I went to Ireland in september this year, saw lots of cars without GB stickers or plates, didn't bother with them myself either. HTH.
simonb
I've seen plenty of Irish ones over here without. It's not like i'm from Lithuania or somewhere and the authorities need to know where i'm from. Might do the mega mega cheap skate thing and buy one, just leave it in the car (just in case!), and when i get back - take it back and get a refund!! NunchukHamster
If you do put a GB sticker on, get a magnetic one (Halfords about £2 I think). Much better than stickers on paintwork. I go to Ireland for driving holidays most years, great place. Whereabouts you heading?
Rustynuts
Have a look here. Link! Might give you some pointers.
simonb
I was thinking of one of the little plasticcy type ones. The sort of 3d ones. Maybe we could get some TSN ones printed up for LM that don't take the paint off!!? Cheers for that page Rustynuts - useful. NunchukHamster - i'm going to Carrigart ( http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?c...;multimap.y=145 ) It's very Northern but is in Eire. 2 weeks in a cottage that opens out on to a deserted Irish beach. Relaxation or what!!? Never been that far North before. Anyone recommend anywhere to visit? Already told the Mrs that we're going to the site of the former DeLorean factory. As a Brit car fan - it'd be sacrillige (sp!!?) not too!!
NunchukHamster
Aye, very north. I normally don't get any further north than Cashel. If you don't mind some travelling while you're their, the Giants Causeway? Or out into the Connemara? Stunning scenery - lochs, mountains, rivers etc.
simonb
That's exactly what i'm thinking mate! How far would it be to Giants Causeway??

simonb
Bloody hell! Just been on aa website and its telling me 4 hrs 20 mins to Dublin from Carrigart. Never knew Ireland was that big!! Eeek!!
NunchukHamster
Yeah, but at least the roads are entertaining. I only know of 3 bits of dual-carriageway in the entire country, and two of them are in/around Dublin. I do like the way that slow stuff pulls onto the hard-shoulder to let you past. And, that when you approach a sharp bend, they write "SLOW" on the tarmac, then a bit further on "SLOWER" - Genius!!
