Hi all,

Just about to purchase a Golf Gti 150bhp for the wife and was wondering if anyone can give me rough price for a cambelt change (plus water pump)?

The car has done 77k and never had a cambelt change and so just wanted to be on safe side and get it done.. tongue.gif

If I know the price of a cambelt change (plus anything else that can be done at the same time) then I'm sure I can get it knocked off the asking price!! grin.gif

Thanks guys..

The cam belts on the 150 engine are at the side instead of the front like the 130 engines. I'd tell your man around the 250/275 mark.. but I'd also be weary that it hasn't been properly looked after. Cam belts are meant to be done every 60k..

Just as I expected..

Seen a few golf turbos with cambelts not yet done after 60k.....some as high as 85k!!

Ohh well, will budget around £300 tops to be on safe side!!

Reason why they have not been done is because VW recomend 118,000mile interval on some 1.8 Turbo engines, I wouldn't dare leave it this long and seen some fail above the 80k mark!
