AZURES3
Guys My A4 1.8T Quattro 190 S-line will need its first service at about 14,000 miles which will come round after 14 months of owenrship, in 3 weeks. Milo
This was my first post that brought me to TSN! Although mine is a Tdi 130 sootchucker, I learned the 1st service costs are virtually the same. In February 2005, mine was £278 after 16,000 (2 years) of ownership. The labour rate for the dealer was a cool £100/hr (£85+VAT) - I know because I asked Nostalgia

Milo
I'm no expert but I don't think the oil change in the Haldex coupling is required until 30,000 miles. Edit - so it should still be <£

I belive the A4 uses the tradtional torsion system but I am not an expert either. AZ
Frodo
Had mine done last Monday and the spec of my A$ is identical to yours. Quote was £250 but I added an internal valet to clean the silver seats. Audi Tonbridge yet again did a fantastic job
P_G
Looking to have mine serviced before it's first anniversary of ownership so that any faults can be done under warranty. Quote thus far £303.41. So I would hope your S-Line is no more than this. Does everyone get the same oil in their Audi's i.e. Castrol SLX Longlife II. I wondered if this is why mine is more expensive than others as the V8 holds a staggering 9 litres which is around £100 in itself
UBM
Same oil for me, but not 9 liters. It's cheaper to supply your own rather than let them rip you off!
P_G
I did wonder about doing that, E-Bay here I come!
UBM
Some of the chaps on here use their own oil. And make sure your washer fluid bottle is full, and talk your way out of that!
P_G
That old chestnut; do they still try to charge £5 for the screenwash fluid as well, 's!

I would've thought it might be SLX (vag 503.01) - Check your handbook BUB
Sponge
Can you really supply your own oil for the service? I always filled my washer bottle before putting the Stilo in for a service and they always found space to put some more in and charge me for the priviledge. It was only a couple of £, but that's not the point, is it? When my first service is eventually due, I think I'll tape up the lid.

P_G
Would it make that much difference?
Avus_Bub
Who knows? The difference must be very slight. They are both 0w30 both Castrol................... But one is 503.00 and the other is 503.01. TBH in a big lazy lump like your 4.2 V8 , I doubt it very much. But Audi don't spec' oils for nothing. My car has 503.00 (SLX L/Life II) but the 3.0 V6 has 503.01 (SLX) on LongLife Service. Just check your handbook - let us know. BUB
