scooby_simon
Went out looking for a new car seat for my son. Scooby sorted out easily - Volvo was a bit of a problem so we ended up going to Volvo in Welwyn Garden City to ask a few questions. As anyone is local to the Stanborough area will know there is also an Aston dealer just down the road of the volly one. So; 3 DB 9's couple of DB7's and just parked outside was a GT2 Could I get wifee to let me "just pop in for a look" - Nope..... Edit. And I forgot the camera
v15ben
Lol I always set off early if I am picking someone up in Leeds just so I can "pop in for a look" at the Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche, Bentley and Aston dealers
simonb
Do you go in though?? I once went into Stratstone at Wilmslow to look at all the Fezzas and the guy was really nice and could see that a young 106 GTI-driving lad like me was not in a position to buy a Fezza. However, went into 'another dealer' the other week and was treated like sh1t. I went to ask a sales-guy a question, not a 'what sort of deals are you doing on these at the moment', but more just something about the car, and was told 'sorry, i'm a bit busy dealing with a proper customer'. Twat! I will leave the dealer un-named - sure he was just having a bad day. Still a twat though!!
simonb
When i make my millions i'm gonna go in there with a suitcase of crisp banknotes, go to ask a question, be told some sh1t about proper customers, and walk out - buy something nicer from somewhere else and go back in that. That'll teach em! Now just need to wait for my balls to drop on a Saturday night.
scooby_simon
There is a Jag dealer there too; went in years ago with a couple of mates: 1 Astra GTE 16v 1 Westfield 1 Spud Very timidly went in and started to look around. Sales man came over and said; Right, I'm guessing you want t look at the 220 over there, come on; it's been sleepy all afternoon, lets go and have a look (then said, I'll be gone like a shot if a real customer comes in and I want you gone too). Spent about 20 mins looking at it and even got a chance to sit in it. Top bloke he was. Total car nut and made our day - I'm sure he was of the thinking "well I could be sitting in my office reading the paper, or I could talk to some kids who really care about cars". Ari
Last year (I think it was) I'd been watching that Top Gear feature of Clarkson racing the train across France in the DB9 with my son. Later that day (think it was a Saturday) we were out having a drive with the top down and found ourselves near an Aston garage so I took him to see a real one. There were none outside (unsurprisingly), so we ventured inside. Non in the showroom either (I guess cos at that time they were selling them faster than they could get them so none in stock). Little fella was a bit disappointed so the nice lady took us through to the workshop (which was closed) to see a customers DB9 which was in for servicing. Nice lady. v15ben
I always go in if I have some spare time. Some of the staff at my local Ferrari dealer know me by name and I recently got an invite to a club event being held down there! In my experience most dealers just enjoy it when other enthusiasts want to see the cars that they dream of owning in the future!

These guys are running a business. Generally (hopefully) they won't mind an enthusiast coming in for a looksee, but they are there to sell cars so guess who their priority is? Yup, customers. Can't really blame them can you?
scooby_simon
I would phone up and make an appointment (and then turn up in jeans as this is what I wear if I can, but I would tell them to expect a bloke in a green Subaru who is comming to buy a DB9, 912 (why did I not buy that one on ebay ) etc.....)
