DanAdams
My GTI came set to longlife servicing - my salesperson didnt actually tell me there was an alternative. I have discovered that in fact it is possible for the car to be set to standard "time and distance" servicing, and that this better suits my driving habits - frequent short stop/start journeys, commute of less than 3 miles. However, my dealership is saying that they can only switch the service type on my car if they do a service at the same time - at a cost of £80.00. Is there any way that I can get around this? I want the servicing switched so that it becoomes due at 10,000 miles but I don't really want to have to pay for a service now with the car only at 4000 miles. dazdot
Dealer bulls**t again, they should have asked you when you collected the car which service schedule you require. Tell them to change it or give VW Uk customer service a call.
DanAdams
Are you sayign that it is techincally perfectly possible to switch the service type mid-interval? Or that an oil change is required at same time but that they should fit the bill?
mulkbear
The dealer is right and wrong You can have a service done at 10k mile or 1 year and then set the service light to Time Distance servicing and change the vehicles service plan But they can not set the service light to Time/Distance because if they did the service lght would not come on to 14000 miles or the age of the vehicle plus 365 days. Simonl
The oil is put in at the factory, how do you think they drive it of the transporter. Service lights are there as a guide to remid you, what's printed in yor schedule is what really matters. Get them to reset it, they are talking
