Shorty
Before i bought some bigger wheels i phoned my insurance company just to see if i am still covered. The wheels i had on my car were 14 inch (pretty small) the wheels i had seen were 17 inch but not good condition, so were cheap. The broker phoned the insurer and said i would be covered but not for the bigger wheels only the existing smaller wheels ( by the way the bigger wheels did not have tyres ).I ended up buying a set of 16 inch wheels from ebay ( with tyres ), fitted these then phoned back up and told the broker who in turn phoned the insurer,BUT they will not insure me now because i told them that the new wheels cost more £140 more but only because these had tyres. does anybody know of a cheap insurance company that is any good, after all i have only got a 1999 1.4S golf. Shorty
cheers, been in touch with existing broker (autodirect) and they have found another insurer and it is costing £211 which i didn't think was bad.
pugboy
I use HIC for my 205. Thats costs me £230 TPFT however thats an engine conversion with 45bhp more than standard, lowered, brakes etc. I am paying slightly more as I have an agreed value on the car of £3k. It also includes track day cover and I can do whatever mods I like for no extra charge. If you are over 25 they are one of the better options.
