iceman63
This is my first post and I was just hoping for a bit of advice. Owner of a Golf 1.6 SE, registered Jun 2000, mileage 22623, petrol engine number AKL813736. On first starting the car it would usually idle perfectly, however during driving, particularly when you come off the accelerator it tended to rev up to between 12 - 1400 revs before either cutting out or the engine is switched off. When the engine is restarted the car would idle perfectly again, however later in the journey the same problem would happen. The car was taken into the garage who having looked at the fault codes suggested replacing the throttle body housing. The car was then taken to main VW garage for the codes to be reset After having done all this the high-idle problem remained. A second throttle body housing was fitted just in case the first was a faulty part. The outcome was the same! Welcome any ideas on what might be causing this problem? Thanks for any advice!
