Busby
Looking for a flat panel monitor and come across an Acer one that is 19" and just £170. Now I know Acer aren't exactly the greatest manufacturer in the world but for just a cheap and cheerful effort to do the job are they worth a look at all? Didn't really want to spend over £200ish and would like 19" if possible (have 17" now so could live with that if necessary!) so any other suggestions will be gratefully received. Frodo
I would go with a better manufacturer. I can't remember but some brands will allow quite a lot of failed pixels before they replace the screen. If you are going to use it every day for long periods then invest for the sake of your eyes
aal234
any chance somewhere like pc world has one to take a look at? You can at least get an idea of how well it performs etc. I don't think the more expensive ones are that fantastic we have expensive viewsonics at work they don't look any better than some cheap ones i have seen and their customer service for returns is just as bad! Thorburn
It depends what you are using them for, word processing, web browsing, etc pretty much any panel will do. Photo editting and the likes you need to start looking at brightness and contrast ratios. Gaming want low reaction times. I spent £370 on my Dell 2005FPW and don't regret it one bit
Si_GTi
My 2005FPW arrived an hour ago and it is simply awesome, I couldn't be happier
Chav
I saw in the dell business leaflet thingy that they send out every month, that monitors are buy one and get 30% off the second at the mo... Dunno if that's any use to anyone, but their monitors seem pretty spot on and good value!

I just want it for surfing, word processing, spreadsheets and looking at my photo's on.
Rustynuts
If you have a 17" CRT monitor, it'll be something like 15" viewable, 'cos they cheat with the measuring system. However, a 17" TFT (flat panel) screen is a true 17" diagonal, so 17" TFT is equivalent to 19" CRT. How about this one. Link.
