MJDVW
Just bought my wife a '97 VR6 and the windscreen steams up (usually at night) and I have to turn the a/c on to get rid of it. Car was very well detailed when I bought it - could it be water in the heater system? Has anyone had this/ knows a fix?
shao_khan
Hi, Welcoem to Tyresmoke. Santa Monica - you near the beach? Fab place. I think it is an issue with cars with aircon that has been used frequently. My beetle does exactly the same if i drive in certain weather conditions with the aircon off. often at night or when it is damp / cold outside. kentzer
Hi and Welcome When this happened on my first "aircon" car, I was advised that it was chemicals put into the air in the air con process which stick to the window. In cold weather, they make the window steam up more than normal, and is difficult to clear without turning on the air con. If you try to clean the window, it will smear. There are cleaning products that you can buy to clean off the chemicals, but they will re-appear each time you use the air con. I just leave the Climate on all the time now, as it means that the window stays clear Cheers Ben
MJDVW
Thanks very much guys for your advice and kind welcome, rather than a fault I'll call it personality! Indeed we're 2 miles from the beach the only misery in life is that we have to work so can't be there all the time!! Thanks, Mark
