Yeah 169144-ok.gif It looks very very good in the Grey....Probably cos it reduces the glaring effect of that controversial (here on TSN) chrome frontispiece dare I say codpiece....Rowan Atkinson would be proud!! But it also looks good in Red!

God! I wish the review of this car wasn't so damned good!! I still hate those alloys though. Hey! Mr. Stealer-Dealer! Supply me with BBS alloys (or something half decent and easy to clean) and I'll buy one!! Otherwise, No deal!!!! Poo! I've been offered a test drive....They must know something about me which I don't.

Silver was my first choice until I saw the car in EVO and didn't like it so much - the actual photo can make a big difference. We really need to see the cars in the metal.

The other thing I thought from the EVO photos was I didn't like the 3 door look - it made the car look less balanced than the official VW photo of a silver 5 door car. But the grey 3 door looks good confused.gif

I always have this problem when I choose the colour of my cars - I tend to vary as to which colour I like most depending on my mood etc

My preference so far has been Reflex because for some reason it is a colour that makes the car look real "quality" but I also really like the beige leather interior see http://gallery.r32-club.de/displayimage.php?album=182&pos=2 but this isn't available with Reflex but it looks as if it may be with Grey - what do others think of the beige leather - given it will need a lot of care and attention but I think it looks "plush". Note also the optional (in Germany) wood effect strips replacing the metal which also look much better than the original alloy trim.

The 'cream' leather has been discussed previously was not to the liking of many existing and potential R32 owners. Its way too 'old man', especially with the wood trim.

These two options are definitely not what an R32 is about. They make the car an 'soft' old grand tourer, instead of the Top-o-The-Line, very fast, hard edged Golf that it should be.

Please don't do it!

I would say that the reason that many existing and potential R32 owners (and it applies to GTI owners too) don't much like the beige/cream leather is that it's not a colour usually associated with a masculine sports image. But the Mk5 Golf range R32 and GTI are high performance (relatively) all-round practical hatchbacks and I don't see why owners should be slightly frowned upon for having beige upholstery. I personally think it looks better than too much greyness.

I once saw pics of a Mk5 GTI in Shadow Blue with beige leather and it looked dynamite! It also had BBS 19s etc etc - Fully loaded! Personally I certainly don't like the wood trim option for the new R32 - Much too Rover/Jaguar.

Cars like the R32 and GTI have a very enthusiastic following - Almost cult status - and it's mostly male and also 'traditional'.

Helen, I think you should do whatever gives you pleasure....It's your car.

Well it's certainly not to my taste, but I didn't think the colour of the seats or the material on the dash had an effect on the way a car performed. At least the last time I looked it didn't.

Helen, go for the beige leather if you like it - it's your car. I can't say whether it'll be any easier or harder to sell with a beige/wood interior when you come to it, but do what you feel is right 169144-ok.gif

I think Brett's just jealous he can't get a beige interior for his Mk4 R32... tongue.gif
