Soapsuds
I have just received my IceLink from the States and am going to install it tonight. CAR: Audi A4 B6 Avant ('03) Firstly, i am after some info as to how to source the lead in the rear left of the boot, as when i open the flap, all i have is the oil package strapped to the side. Do i need to take off this entire piece to source the changer lead? Secondly, i want to install this in the central armrest, so it is completely out of site. Also, it wil look pretty cool lit up in red when you open the flap!! Question is, i cannot see an easy way to route the cable a) to the armrest and b) INTO the armrest. There is some 'flimsy' hollow sounding plastic around, that i assume i can drill out and grommet so it looks good, but has anyone done this / know of any panels that are removable to get the lead into the Armrest itself........ Any help MUCH appreciated, before i butcher my interior in the pitch black tonight!!!
Sponge
Out of interest, why get the Ice Link from the US? Was it substantially cheaper?
Soapsuds
[ QUOTE ] Out of interest, why get the Ice Link from the US? Was it substantially cheaper? [/ QUOTE ] its not an actual Ice Link, its an icelink from a company called PAC Auto and it allows the ipod to be used whilst connected - i.e. you can use the click-wheel, unlike with the IceLink. Oh, and it adds album and artist search, where the IceLink is next track / playlist etc. And yea, it was £25 cheaper with P&P and all cables. Arrived this morning after about 5 days. Should have it all in tonight!!! [/fingerscrossed]
Sponge
Well according to my Ice Link manual you have two control options: 1) Dension User Interface (default) - no control of iPod keys 2) iPod User Interface - full control on iPod But yours interests me. Do you have a link?
Soapsuds
yep, you need to load software onto the iPod for the dension to work properly. Thats fine if its going in a cradle (think your is, you said??), but mine is hiding away and so dont want to have to switch inerfaces off/on when i might want to use the iPod keys..... Its totally something and nothing really!!! Just im a tight fisted git and fancied saving some money and i like to be different..... Bought mine off eBay, but the company is PAC AUDIO - product is called AUX-POD. Actually impressed and its all gold-plated connectors to & from the box and CD changer lead..... Sponge
Yeah, mine's going in a cradle. coz i r a show off. Although, I might not be so cocky when I come to fit it and can't decide where/how to run the cables.
mattcony
If the armrest is made anything like the one for the VW Golf and Passat then yes you can, as I put my Nokia 6230 carkit cradle in there cheers matt
