Masks and Snorkells

I'd say probably cheaper to buy over here if you want decent kit. Dive kit over there is generally more expensive because divers usually only need something if they've lost something so will be prepared to pay the prices.

As far as masks go, get to a local dive shop and try a few on. Due to the fact that they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, getting one that fits properly is vital.

It would also make sense to try some fins on too. My full foot fins are slightly too big for me (I bought them online) and are prone to giving me blisters.

I'll second the fact of going to a dive shop with a decent selection of masks and trying them on. Personally I prefer a mask with 1 piece glass, as I find 2 piece masks dig in just above my nose. The best test for fit, is put the mask on your face (but don't fit the strap) and breathe in through your nose... if it stick to your face then it's ok.

As for fins, It depends what sort of diving you do. If it's lots of boat diving abroad then "slipper" fins may be your best bet. However, if you are likely to do shore diving or cold water, then I suggest buying some strapped fins so at least you can wear boots.

My personal preference is Mares
