Sia
Just had a chat with my local VW dealer and he tells me that only 900 R32s are to be available in the UK in 2006 - anybody else heard this?
TP27
Not heard of specific numbers I must confess. No mass deliveries will come on stream until Spring 2006 and there's bound to be the usual delivery delays that all the GTi drivers have encountered. I would hazard that 900 could be the highter end of the production numbers for the 9 months of 2006 from late March to December. That's 100 to the UK in every calendar month... Smudge
I think it's already been confirmed that overall production of the MkV R32 won't be limited like the MkIV was, but I wouldn't expect there to be thousands of R32's flooding into the uk every year. The thing to remember is that the MkIV came into the models life quite late, and was always going to be a limited number from VW, although the final numbers were up on the original number published - due to demand, and possibly a good way of moving on a few spare MkIV chassis'. The MkV has joined us a lot earlier in the cars build life, and as there has been no confirmation that the R32 will only be built for X months, we can assume production will not be "limited". The GTi isn't limited, but the are a limited number available a year, but then thats true for any car. Does that make sense?
R32North
Plus at the price they are being sold at, ie £24k - £29k (ish), I don't think you see as many of them being sold as per the less expensive models!
TP27
That is true Brett but remember the Mkiv R32 was still £22,340 for a three door and £22,960 for the five door. Adding Sat-Nav, Cruise, Black Leather and Sunroof to a three door still made it a £27,380 car. DSG wasn't a UK spec option, but at £1,500 this would have made a full spec 3 door car nearly £29,000 too! I remind myself this daily as I wander into the realms of ordering a MkV R32!! AGDODDS
my dealer also reckoned they would be limited "an investment!!!" but he suggested 1500 to be available in the uk in 2005 sounds a lot to me bearing in mind there is only 43 days in 2005 from the release date of 18th november
Mook
Investment...??!! Your dealer needs to get a life, or learn how to sell properly... There were 2391 Mk4 R32s sold in the UK - check this thread for details. I have also heard and read that the Mk5 is absolutely not limited, but there is a big difference between a limited run and low production numbers. They may well be selling 1500 into the UK, but that is probably just for 2006. Sorry to say it (as I know there are some main dealer sales reps on TsN), but VW dealers seem to employ far too many muppets in the sales dept. Skidmark
From the dictionary: "Invest"....to lay out [money, time, effort..] for profit or advantage. The modern motor car ?.....? I don't think so !!! But they are in 'sales'
Smudge
Somewhere at VW dealer near you . . . . . . . [ QUOTE ] Yes thats right sir, by using our unique on line configurator we can design an bespoke solution to your motor needs. I'd suggest you look at the latest generation of the Golf, the MkV Golf, and it's latest model, the limited edition R32. The most powerful production Golf to date. Did you know there are only 1600 models being made? The R32 has many unique features, and you can customise the design of your very own car, to make it a tangible investment with huge advantages for yourself. Now, I see you've checked the Winter Options there sir, do you want me to add the power Xenon lights? Yes, good, thats another £850, plus I'd recomend the heated jet washers, very usefull for the winter. Now then sir, alloy wheels. If you want your motoring mecha to be that bit more unique, may I suggest these 18" Zolda Alloys, very nice, and easy to clean with VW's very unique wheel cleaner. I'll throw that in FOC sir. Sorry sir, what was that? Alloys standard? Noooo, I don't think so. Well, they're not listed on my price list here so I've gone with the price from the GTi as we don't have all the info yet.
