Oh you fellow cabbies. I am contemplating changing my beloved 2003 2.4 V6 Cab for a 2004 3.0 V6 Cab. Problem is I I lease the car through VWFS and still have 2 yrs to go. Has anyone changed their car during the finance period, if so then I need some advice on how to go about doing this..

My company gives me a car allowance and a fuel card so have no worries on the fuel expense. I do recall someone here changing their car during the finance period a few months back................Please help as I have seen a MORO BLUE; ANIS YELLOW LEATHER 3.0 V6 at the local..........Chippie..sorry meant garage (as the last time I walked into Huddersfield Audi I swear I could smell chips)

I've changed twice in the early stages of finance agreements but have had some equity in the car too. I have to say its not the best financial move ever, but if you want to change the car the thrill of getting what you finally want outstrips the cost for me. (but then I am mad. crazy.gif) Redeeming in the early stages loads it even more but you should be past that stage.

You should be able to just phone VWFS and get a settlement figure. At least then you will know what you owe and where you stand with part ex (if you plan to do that) and budget for new one. If you have GAP insurance though that gets costed in as its not transferable so you end up losing dosh on that.... smashfreakB.gif

In May this year I got my cab valued at £18k , by Lottie's dealer sekret.gif, I had my car financed by VWFS too and the outstanding balance was also £18k , so I would effectively be giving the car back paying off the finance and then starting from scratch on a new finance scheme.

As mine is relatively high mileage I would have thought yours would be worth slightly worth more than mine , £22k ?. If you are buying a new Audi then I think VWFS will look more favourably when deciding what an early termination fee should be.

As I have yet to chop in my cab for another I can't really confirm this, Lottie and UBM are the local experts on this matter I believe coffee.gif

lottie/SCM,

thanks for that. Not going for a new car, will be at least a year old. Huddersfield Audi are currently looking for a 3.0L Cab. My car has done about 42k miles. Dunno if you class that as high mileage for a 2 yr old car. Was tempted to head off towards a porsche boxster but need the four seater for the new arrival in three weeks. Hopefully I may get a bit more than 18k.

Still need to get a test drive in the 3.0L. Hoping to see the 3.0L blow me away with its performance compared to my lazy 2.4

I changed from my S3 to an S4 and the dealer was kind enough to buy my S3 off me and start a new finance agreement on the S4.

However I chose to swap at a decent time when my S3 was due its 2nd AVS service, was near needing four new tyres, road tax and the front bumper stone chip repaired. So the £1200 I lost in trading up was covered as I got a brand new car not needing any of the above. 169144-ok.gifECLIPSe.gif

Not sure if it'll "blow you away", but certainly there is an appreciable and worthwhile performance gain with the 3.0 litre. Lovely engine in the Cabrio.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I changed my first Cab after less than a year. I have to say that the VWFS early redemption penalties seemed pretty negligible to me (I think it was basically a couple of months' interest), certainly compared to the sort of ripoffs you get over mortgages etc. (I know, different sums of money involved).

As said above, though you lose out on things like GAP.

The biggest hit you're going to take is simply on depreciation; the finance penalties are trivial by comparison.

I think it'sall down to personal taste Milo, i really liked the Sprint Blue, it looked very nice and suited the car very well, even with the black roof up it still looked good there was no black/blue clash, i met a few of the Scottish guys from TSN at starperformance and everyone thought the colour looked good and remarked that they had not seen another in that sprint blue

There seems to be numerous sprint blue cars for sale on the web site, not sure why and the prices dont seem that different to the more standard colours, but i can honestly say i have never seen another one on my travels.

Its not to everyones taste, but i really liked it. As for costing less i'm not sure, missus has banned me from Audi web site(can't think why), when i was buying the car it was offered at the same price as red/black no cheaper because it was sprint, and when i sold it, it made no difference to the price then either.

I bought it brand new, ran it for 4 months and the dealer then sold it on again at the same price i paid him for it in the first place.

Quick off topic question - is there some stigma attached to Sprint Blue S4 cabs (i.e. they're not worth as much?).

I seem to recall reading this somewhere but can't find where crazy.gif

I had a big debate whether or not to buy a Sprint Blue cab a few months back, the colour was a factor then - in hindsight maybe I should of confused.giftongue.gif
