Well as I have just finished doing them i thought of doing a quick guide illustrated with pics.

Before you start make sure you have all the right tools with you.

I used a drill tool with wire brushes to clean the calipers you can sand them down but this was quicker.

When jack your car up and make sure you use axle stands. Just to be safe.

Got some decals from Ebay.

592340-4.JPG

I am doing the rear caliper as i had already started the front. Procedure is the same apart from make sure you take the retaining spring off if you don't want that painted.

Make sure you use one of these Alloy wheel nut socket. Notice the ruber coating to protect the wheel (unless you don't care).

592340-6.JPG

This is how the rear caliper was looking like after the wheel was removed.

Spray the brake cleaner to remove any loose brake dust.

Note: Brake dust is probably one of the worst things to get into your lungs so i used a Dust Mask!!

Then down with the proper cleaning, removing all the residues and rust. Mind the ruber parts and the brake pipes. Change as apropriate if you damage them. I used different brushes to get to the grooves. It took about 10 minutes.

Clean and Shiny. smile.gif

Ready for painting. For this i used a 1/2" brush and art brushes to get to the detailing. Also i have chosen Japlac signal red(budget paint) but you can use Hammerite Smooth Red or special brake caliper paint (which costs alot more).

Ok finished painting so wait until is touch dry.

592340-14a.JPG

Ok this might sound crazy but after it is dry use a very fine sand paper and sand it down enough to take the shine away.

592340-15.JPG

592340-16.JPG

Ok give it an over coat and make sure you don't paint the ruber seals or other part that you shouldn't be painting like i have done here. make sure you water the paint down quickly and wipe it.

592340-17.JPG

Ok finished painting. It looks nice. Leave it to dry. I left it overnight for best result. Go and have some beers you deserve it. beerchug.gif

592340-18.JPG

Ok when is dry admire you work for a bit then put the retaining spring back on. I suggest you dont paint this but is up to you.

592340-19.JPG

Put the decals on following the instructions the came with.

592340-20.JPG

Ok put the wheels back on and there you go job well done.

Admire your work again and then go have a nice cold beer and say hello to wife and kid that you haven't seen all day. Thank you for reading hope it's helpful to you. 169144-ok.gifbeerchug.gif

Did you use the primer? I picked up some red Hammerite yesterday and saw the primer on the shelf and wondered if it would be a good idea.

I haven't had the chance to do mine yet, it's too wet. frown.gif
