Sony CD MP3 interchanger with Gamma Head unit

Hi, I have a Mk4 Golf with standard Gamma head unit and single CD above in dash. I believe you can fit a changer to this but I'm looking at one which will play mp3. Can you still use single CD if you fit something like Sony's MVGS003 which looks like it goes into the cassette player only, probably leaving the single CD redundant?

Hi,

You can get adaptors for most aftermarket changers to work with original OEM headunits now. I know of several TT owners who have Sony MP3 cd changers.

As for the Single cd in the dash - you could just remove this and fit a 'cubby hole' so you can store more rubbish in the car and not have to look at a redundent Cd player.

Alternatively Blaupunkt were making some in dash changers, maybe these have been updated with MP3 playback capability?

Cheers for the reply. It does look like it only goes into the back of the cassette player making the existing unit redundant, but if the VW changer is fitted I understand you use the single player as a control unit to switch between single player and changer. Are there any MP3 changers which substitute the job of the VW changer as it would be good to keep all of the existing VW kit in the dash?

I didnt realise the single unit operated like that - does it to have a changer connection in the back then? IF so I guess the sony (or other) changer and adaptor might work in line with that.

To be honest I had this a few cars back and just took the single one out and put the cubby hole in.
