shao_khan
I am goign to suggest that we suspend meets until spring time, numbers drop dramatically as the nights close in. I dont really see the benefit in organising a meet for 2 or 3 people. Opinions please.
shark_90
I dunno about that mate. I can see what you're saying and it can be disheartening, I wish I could be more of a regular.
Tobes49
It nice to meet people, but standing around in the cold on dark nights is ot my cup of tea. I would say that is a good idea.
felixthecat1
It would be a huge shame SK, but if this is a rouse to get people to come along it might work though.
shark_90
What are people doing on Monday evening?
shao_khan
Working TO be honest my question is serious because some people travel a long way to this meet, and fancy driving for 100 miles and finding only 1 or 2 other people. Whilest I dont doubt the quality of the company, they do say variation is the spice of life!!!! SO what I dont want is meets organised if the chances of people turning up is so small. felixthecat1
[ QUOTE ] What are people doing on Monday evening? [/ QUOTE ] I assume you mean this Monday coming. The answer is who knows, you might as well ask the cat! I don't think it matters which day it is anyway. If people want to go they'll go, and if not thay just won't. I don't go to meets very often (sorry) but when I do there are always loads of guys there so it's hard to fathom a meet with low attendance. shark_90
I only posted about this monday as I'll be in the area. But if you're not going to come, feck you. Feck you all. I'll stand on my own

NewNiceMrMe
Suspension of meets on weekday evenings during the winter months sounds like a sensible idea to me.
felixthecat1
Please explain why. We all have cars so the rain shouldn't put you off. We are all adults so we shouldn't be scared of the dark. We all have spare time every now and then so we can all make a meet at some time or other. So, why suspend meets just because it happens to be winter?
NewNiceMrMe
Well I think SK has already said why - because attendance is low. Only 2 went last night and I was one of the guilty people who initially said they could go and then didn't because of work I needed to do. That might be different to dark nights/cold weather putting me off but I think he's hit on a point; that being that those conditions aren't really a motivator to travel. The proof is in the last few meet attendances I guess. Ultimately I'm a mere foreigner at these particular meets anyway and my own attendance possibilities stop after December anyway because I'll not be travelling to Northampton regularly as I do now. I'll be heading into the wilds of Scotland instead so I might become a Scottish Meet Foreigner instead!
Ian_C
Only just spotted this. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Regular five of Matt, Tobes, Shao, Nik and myself Ian are pretty much there every month. Only a party for Tobes, work for Matt and unplanned issues for Shao caused a poor show last evening. That's before you even consider other 'usual suspects' such as Richard, John Carter, Audi_Smitten, MrMe, Daz, James B, Craigy, Baiterman... etc. Think last night was just an unfortunate poor show and putting a stop to the event might make it very difficult to start up again in the new year. Also proof that winter is not necessarliy the cause of a low turn-out - 5th Feb 2004 at MK was one of the busiest meets I've ever been to! felixthecat1
People soon get used to the nights drawing in and soon forget what it's like to drive in daylight on nice dry roads, you'll see. As for last night, I couldn't be there because I was doing the single parent shuffle, Mrs Tian was in Scotland buying me some Scotch.
MOSE
I'm hoping to get to a few of these as well, so will be a bit of a disappointment if they are cancelled just cos it happens to be winter.
Ian_C
Yeah but you've only been once! Some of us have been for 12 months straight. Cannot remember the last time Matt wasn't present. I didn't realise there was an attendance count in effect that warranted some form of right to voice an opinion or be included in your mention of those that couldn't attend for valid reasons last night. Wow. Says a lot that Ian, say's an awful lot.
Ian_C
I'm glad I know you well enough by now to know you are only joshing. You know I meant that Matt, Tobes, Shao, Nik & myself are pretty much always there. Ian
felixthecat1
I've only been to the MK meet once myself. Chris any chance of a lift in the 6 Series, time I left this thread.
NewNiceMrMe
I didn't attend in the 6 when I came, nor would I in the future....because I use the A4 for the mile-crunching. Putting 600-700 miles a week on the 6 isn't something that appeals to me.

Botang
The MK meet has always been a bit of a strange one, its almost impossible to tell how many people will be there, the lowest generally has been 5 but then the following month for no reason what so ever it will be 15. I have been to the Windsor meet a few times this year and still go to the MK one the following week. At one point all the R32 boys and girls went to the MK meet, havent seen them about lately I think the A8/S8 boys frightened them off.
Botang
[ QUOTE ] The proof is in the last few meet attendances I guess [/ QUOTE ] Which, with the exception of this month, have been reasonable. The one meet you did attend the attendence was very healthy.
