stevebower
My 2002 S8 has the 10 speaker setup (Bose logo on the rear shelf only) & the Nav Plus radio) What would be the most effective sound system upgrade? Cheers for help Steve S8Newbie
PaulW
It would be tough to upgrade because it's a Bose system. Without changing the head unit, you'll need some kind of way to take the Bose head unit (which is built into the the Nav Plus) output and change it to a signal that can be amplified to drive all new speakers. Do a search on "bose upgrade" and you'll probably find a bunch of info.
craigyb
Why dont you have a listen to an RNS-E driving the BOSE system as opposed to your RNS-D, I can swap the HU's over for a test, I think you will find the sound of the RNS-E more pleasing. stevebower
So do I essentially have a Bose system even though it is not a 'Concert' head? I *did* wonder about swapping the speakers, but is that a major job? I did also fancy a sub. Craigyb: I would certainly like to try the RNS-E as that would be a useful upgrade anyway. Can you email me (see profile if you don't have it) to arrange, as I am Stockport, so that should be OK to get to you. Cheers
johnss8
Steve, i've left my original sat nav plus in and had 2 Genesis amps fitted powering 8" JL subs on the rear shelve and 6"Boston pro's in the front doors and left the original rear speaker's in the doors but turned down low on the gain for rear infill. It's got a good deep sound with a great front stage set up.
