Simonl
White Hart Mart to be precise! My car (which was the same build week) is still in the feckin factory... I know there's a couple of people on here with similar delivery times to mine (next week), does anyone have any info/dates from their dealers. have they all slipped! mu71rd
mine's taking a while to go from factory to dealer, which is annyoing. probably just my impatience! am waiting for the PDI and invoice to come through
silentandy
They seem to have an almost random delivery system from the factory! Someone who ordered an almost similar spec to me from the same dealer but two weeks after me had his car delivered to the dealer a week before me! Go figure, the stealer didn't have a clue why either.
b5rkr
yep mine was due in last week 28/10 now due in tomorrow 4/11. hopefully will pick up car next week but all depends how long dealer will hold on to it after receiving it!!!!!! RedRobin
Nope! No dealer will want to "hold on to it after receiving it"....They don't receive any money until you have taken delivery and only unless you have no justifiable complaints when they VW UK contact you soon after. Also, the road transport guys are under a strict timeframe contract once your car is on UK soil AND logged as such. The Black Hole is between German and UK docksides....It's not included in the networked tracking systems. I experienced the same in late July with mine. Built Awaiting Shipment On Ship UK Dockside (where it's logged on the UK dealer network) Are you talking about that black hole called the North Sea Red? RedRobin
Yep, On a boat somewhere in the North Sea. As far as I know there is only one boat per week leaving Emden for Sheerness.
AlexM
My dealer had said that they wait until the ferry is full before it ships so if your car is first one on it can mean an extra 2 weeks on the delivery time, if its last on it can be in the UK the day after it leaves the factory. Pot luck i guess
RedRobin
Thanks and welcome Alex....I thought that that might be so and now your post confirms it and it also explains why no-one at VW can track it accurately. Being national ports or exit/entry there are all sorts of security issues and docks operate as a law unto themselves!
WhiteHArtMart
I guess mine must have squeezed on at the back then!! Would explain the difference timescales as you say Red! Thanks for the info Alex!
Simonl
Hey it's on it's way!!!!, so providing the weather holds (which it is) it should be here any time now! I'm crossing fingers for a next weekend pick up!!!
RedRobin
That's great news LeMan! Yet another smiling face soon behind the wheel of a new GTI . Why is it that every time I read the subject heading of this particular thread I always expect to read that some guy has got lucky with something other than a car! Simonl
I wouldn't mind, so long as i was being told what the feck is going on. Got to say, this is one thing that BMW did well for me. Got my car bang on time, no stress, completely informed the entire time.
RedRobin
BMW have an excellent reputation in such matters and VW would do well to learn from that! Not knowing was EXACTLY what pissed me off....Knowing something makes ALL the difference. I have specifically pointed this out to VW UK but....I ain't gonna lose sleep over such matters.
