'99 Passat 110 TDI Fuel Warning Light

It's reading normally and not approaching the point where the light would usually come on, hopefully I am not that much of a numpty laugh.gif

Nothing seems out of place aside from the fact that the fuel light comes on when I fire the car up (after say 1/2 a second) and then stays on.

It sounds very much like the switch which reads fuel presence is broken. They are normally a thermistor type switch which when sat in fuel is cold thinking fuel is present. It may even be part of the gauge sender unit which sits in the top of the tank. The haynes is not very clear about it. Check with your local stealer.
