J_C
Just been told there's a police radar gun on the A1(M) southbound just before the A14 junction. Apparently a second car further along the road is pulling people over. So watch out folks, if you're on that stretch of road!

shark_90
Just you Craig, John happened to ring me just after you rang off the first time and I couldn't hear a word you were saying, so I wasn't sure if you'd got enough info to post! Sparky
If you weren't driving so damn fast, perhaps the road noise wouldn't have been so bad.
shark_90
What worries me more is a did a little above the speed limit exactly where that gun was this morning...
NeilB
Seen as it was a two car operation you should be fine, as they will just radio ahead to the car your reg and then pull you over. It depends on the force too, some won't bat an eyelid unless you go over 90 yet others will do you for 80.

shark_90
And a '3' and a '5' shortly after, yes. And an A6 about 50 yards infront It was a good cruise
J_C
Mate I don't think you need to worry about cobwebs on your car. The spiders which haven't been crushed by the G-forces have probably died of acoustic shock from all the sonic booms.

shark_90
Yep, about 4400 I think. Can't remember without doing it again! Instant DIS shows late 20's. Still isn't bad!
Ian_C
4,400! Surely that must be on the limiter - surprised it lets you go that far around. Ian
shark_90
I don't know what the limiter is, but it bounces around 4,800ish I think. I've had 142 out of it (in Germany of course ) but I don't frequent that kind of driving!
Ian_C
4,800 from a four-pot tractor. That cannot be good for it. Ian
shark_90
Temperature gauge never moves no matter how much stick you give it. Usually I cruise at 90-100 at around 3-3200rpm which it's very happy at. Fuel consumption is considerably worse than at 70 though, where it returns ~55mpg. Ian [/ QUOTE ] Diesel engines rev more slowly because the combustion process is much slower (the flame front, within the cylinder travels at a much slower speed than in a petrol engine). The bearings etc are more robust to cope with the higher compression ratio. So mechanicaly there are no problems in it reving that fast. Take it yours is the 5 speed box Ben.
