belperandy
Just seen these on Fleebay. Didn't know you could even get 12 pots. They certainly fill the alloys nicely. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Volkswagen-Golf-R3...1QQcmdZViewItem
Mook
Ouch! Good find Andy You could go for a set of these from ECS Tuning (Cayenne Turbo 6 pot calipers): I can vouch for the stopping power. A bit like having the back of your brain sucked backwards through your nose if you stamp a bit too hard...
belperandy
Very Nice, will have to consider them. I have always been a big fan of great stopping Power as well as acceleration. I have even got some 6 pots on me Mountain Bike! How much are those in those Porsche ones above roughly? and I take it you have just upgraded the front, and left the rear standard
Mook
No, I did the front and rear - the brake imbalance would be horrendous if you just did the fronts. About £2K for the front and rear. Talk to Richard at www.jbrperformance.co.uk who are the UK importers for www.ecstuning.com - you'll need the Stage 5 front and Stage 1 rears. JasT
I've seen those ebay brakes on Ricks car and they do look good. BUT... Why do these brakes retail for so much? What's costing all that cash?
Smudge
Development work for a start, I would guess. They're obvioulsy quite a vital part of a cars performance. Getting going is great, but to realise you forgot to make the brakes work makes things a little messy, or so I've heard.
Woppum
Don't bother with the 993 turbo brakes if you get tempted. They are just not much better than stock and cost a sh1t load more!
Smudge
Yeah Wopps, but they do look good fella.
Woppum
I hate to say it but those look a little bigger than mine... But yes they do look good, so do the wheel spacers!
N3WOB
Think they're the Cayenne calipers (like the one's Creamy Mook Mook has) They look great
Smudge
I think you're right, but if they were on my car they'd be yellow.
N3WOB
And they do them in that colour, blue & silver IIRC If you get some yellow calipers I'll buy you a couple of bananas to stick up your tail pipes to match

R32North
ECS do OEM brake upgrade, ie OEM disks by machined one of 3 different ways, namely grooved, drilled or both. The 2-pce set-up looks wicked but its expensive and an upgraded set of OEM disks matched to Pagid or similar pads would suit nearly all of us except maybe HF who'll need the biggest brakes going!
