as3if
Tried to unlock her today... Flatline...computer says no. Figure remote key battery is dead. Was an idiot and left them in my bag, where they must have had one of my 3000 bits of tat press on them. Have done a search, anyone able to tell me how to replace the battery in the key fob (or battery model no) Cheers, Asif ()

as3if
[ QUOTE ] Lithium CR2032 3V [/ QUOTE ] Thanks! Have also found a link for other complete noobs on how to replace your battery. Audi key fob battery replacement Apologies if this has been referenced in the past, or if linking to audiworld is a major faux pas! Asif
as3if
Ok. now I feel ridiculous... Changed key fob battery, car still wont open. Suspect battery is flat (leds on locks not flashing). But cannot turn off alarm. Can I get into the car by just unlocking the driver door with the switchblade key - will the alarm go off? Cheers
mschoudhry
You can check battery voltage with a cheap voltmeter (e.g from Maplins or DIY store). If the battery is ok then there must a fault with the FOB (mine went haywire once and I had to remove the old battery - thought it was faulty and bought a new one but when I checked it with a voltmeter it was ok and worked fine when re-inserted!) You should be able to open the drivers door no problem with the key and alarm will disengage when you turn the ignition (well mine works like that anyway - A3 2004 2.0fsi)

I actually meant so say that I think the CAR battery may be flat, hence the lack of flashing from the lock lights. Will try the ignition thing tomorrow morning, feel like a right moron! Gren
Jump in quickly, the alarm will go off after 30 secs if you don't put the keys in the ignition.
