RedRobin
I know but I posted it here for the benefit of those who don't venture out of this GTI forum much and because it looks so like a modded Mk5 GTI.

mu71rd
soon have a reason to as well! I would love to see a chart of posts against time. lunchtimes at work, before leaving the office, evening, when drunk on a friday night at 2am... wonder whether I'll be posting more or less once the car actually gets here! RedRobin
G'morning mu, I was sure that I was going to be posting far less here, even if at all, after my car was delivered....But!....over 2,000 posts later....you know the story! What has happened is that this forum remains the best place to learn all sorts of stuff about the Mk5 GTI and to share our enthusiasms (which hasn't diminished in my case). You receive help and you naturally, if you are a caring sort of person, give help to others as you inevitably read their posts even if only out of curiosity. TSN is a great place to learn - The University Of The Mk5 GTI. If you actually meet any of the other posters in person, as I have done, you then find you have added friends or acquaintances. In my case, I no longer work, or at least only when I want to, and any 'work' involves my broadband computer anyway so it's so very easy to post here AND have a life which includes actually driving the car! 4,000 miles in 3 months. I doubt if you'll totally stop posting once you have your car because there'll be stuff you want to know or share. The GTI Tradition is one of Enthusiasm and it's this tradition which the Mk5 has brought back after the Mk4 (apologies to Mk4 owners - just my opinion). Enthusiasm is what brings us together....And that long wait!! Even if you do stop posting, it's been good discussing and debating and learning with you . GTiMK5
[ QUOTE ] I know but I posted it here for the benefit of those who don't venture out of this GTI forum much and because it looks so like a modded Mk5 GTI. RedRobin
[ QUOTE ] ....and because it looks so like a modded Mk5 GTI. [/ QUOTE ] ....I did write that "it looks so like" and not that it was. Yes? Hey, if anyone thinks my post was irrelevant then just don't bother responding in this particular thread. It was late at night, my brain wasn't fully alert, and I thought someone might enjoy seeing it.
GTiMK5
Red, Was a bit of sarcasm, lighten up mate.
RedRobin
Sorry! That thought crossed my mind after I had posted. It's a good example of how easy it is to misinterpret the written word, especially when they are only a few words. Cheers No harm done I think it's a Jetta but it does look like a fiercely modded GTI or what the Mk5 R32 might have looked like. It also shows that VW are capable of totally trumping Ford and Vauxhall's chunky body styling efforts.
GTiMK5
Yeah, it is a Jetta/Bora depending where you live. Not sure I like the styling to be honest though.
RedRobin
Because it's so positively styled, it's bound to be controversial or at least provoking a "I love it!" or "I hate it!" response. Yes, the Chavs would love it but we shouldn't forget that the Chavs are only today's Teddy Boys or Mods and will probably be buying Mk7 GTIs when they are older and earn enough money. Simonl
I like it, strangely. And i also think in 2/3 years time it will be the golf that is the spiritual sucessor to the R32 of old. It would certainly explain why the new R32 is a bit of a lazy copout. Another mad powered golf that appears near the end of the Mark 5's life. Neimad
It does look seriously imposing from the front, just as the Mk4 R32 did. It's just a shame that it's a Jetta and not a Golf -- I think that the hatchback form suites the shape and style of the car much better than the saloon form does. Is the name "GTR" trademarked by someone then, as I would have assumed that would have been a more logical moniker than "R-GT".
Snoopy
Don't like it looks like someones been watching starwars too much before he designed that frontend. Just my opinion. G.
