RobA3
I,m not sure what the cost will be as I don't have an S3, but I am assuming your car is now out warranty, hence if you use a independant dealer it will defo cost u less altenatively ring a few dealers and haggle for a better price. stevemyall
yeah I did that and managed to get the cost down a bit but i used to have a VW and everytime i went they'd find something wrong with it. i just wondered if anyone could tell me if they were likely to say i need a complete set of spark plaugs or something. fingermouse
depends on the milage im guessing around 50,000 so depends if its had the haldex oil and filter done, plugs at 40k, cam belt due at 60k etc
stevemyall
all done now cost £325 for service and MOT. it was at an audi main dealer. haldex was done but no plugs. it's got 44k on it. apparently i need new discs coz they are corroded although the pads still have 15k left in them so i think i will leave that beforre i splash the 550 + Vat. also i need a new front roll bar clips and bushes which will cost £250 plus VAT. car passed MOT which is main thing
Tomk
ouch find yourself a local place , i payed under £300 for both front and rear discs and pads, my service is also £120 and thats with all parts !
stevemyall
exactly. what is your view on using someone other than audi to fit stuff like discs and get servicing done... i was worried it might affect any resale even though i've only just got the car. i did look for a cheap place b4 hand and managed to get it down from 350 plus vat in london to what i paid. wheree did you go for yours wwas it an AMD? Tomk
no i use a little local chap , he is really good and charges £30 an hour i used amd for my chip and anything ' complicated ' but they charge £60 an hour and parts are the same prices as at audi... think they wanted £450 for my cam belt and it was £280 all in if i remember from my chap it only really affects the value of the car if its under 3 years old , BUT as long as its done on time , and stamped in teh boook then it should not make a difference, most places will do a better job than audi anyway ! I checked this on three seperate occasions with three different stealers, also had my friendly (ex VAG) now no longer in the trade mechanic take a pre service look. He suggested a minimum of 100,000 so who is right????

[/ QUOTE ] If Camerons of Perth is your local dealer then you could do a lot worse than have a chat with Jim at Star Performance in Kirkcaldy - he is very straight talking and won't tryo to con you - he also has an S3 and has run many Audis and VWs over the years. His number is 01592 655595 or look at Star Performance HTH Kev

Hmmm, that explains the explosive acceleration.

P.S "99 Ron can mess engines, if not designed for it, all to do with lubricants" From an ex V.A.G Mechanic who does know his stuff IMHO.
