The sensors are colour coded and do look factory jobs. Would it put you off buying it? I went to the dealer because a wanted an unmolested R32 to mod myself. Ths car is 3 Door silver with Part leather interior. If i do buy it i will be taking it to Awsome GTI for a ECU mod and Exhaust this week. Also will be installing factory Sat Nav as i had same system in my old RS6.

Roylance.

I bought mine from SKF in Stockport and have still got the original brochure.

I live about 2 miles away and may also be considering selling my unmolested R soon.

PM me if you are interested, or want to borrow the brochure.

A far as I know parking sensors were not an option on UK cars as well......and watch out ~ their sales people dont know their ar5e from their elbow when it comes to R32s.

I also posted a question regarding parking sensors a few months ago.

I saw a Mk IV R32 on the German car trader website Mobile.de with reverse sensors listed as an optional extra. Plus, the picture of the car clearly showed sensors (and from what I could see they did look like a factory fitted upgrade rather than an aftermarket bodge). Maybe it was something that was offered towards the end of the Mk IV production life? Although, I would be very surprised if you could have specified them on a UK car.

Easy,

How can i confirm if its a Uk car, is there any ID in the engine bay?

Anyone got any advice on Awsome GTi ECU upgrade.

Will be fitting Miltek Hi flow cat system is this the best kit or should i fit Blue flame?

Soulboy, i would have been interested (sorry mate) but i have a vehicle to trade a Discovery 3 V6 HSE so i will probably see you around manchester.

My parents bought a MKV GTTDi recently with parking sensors as an option and they were fitted by a local stereo company rather than VW dealer. The kit probably comes from VW and they can fit it or have someone else do it so I don't see why it couldn't have been done by VW, even if didn't show up on original options list. VW might have only recently added parking sensors to list and maybe previous owner went back to get it retro fitted. Make sure it works and that its covered by any warranty they offer and you should be fine. Makes you quite unique in the UK as well! I think the engine/chassis #s would confirm where its been built but not sure if also confirms if its UK or not.

As for Milltek/Blueflame. The debate rages on! Its down to personal taste I think. I have Milltek as do a larger % on TSN but I have heard a Blueflame system when I followed Dave in his Moonlight (?) blue 3dr up to Donnington Park and it sounded fantastic. They look slightly different and I think Blueflame is slightly cheaper but supposedly same quality. Only downside is Blueflame don't offer any hi-flow cats if you fancy doing that mod later and don't know if their pipes will mate to Milltek pipework.

REVERSING SENSORS:

I didn't think I needed reversing bleepers and so had them fitted aftermarket by my VW dealer's body shop. They are officially approved by VW but only available in black (which I preferred anyway). This is on my Mk5 GTI and not a R32 but it's the same principle and the info may be helpful.

MILLTEK/BLUEFLAME:

I have no experience whatsoever of Blueflame but Milltek's Hi-flow system is designed for turbocharged engines and is particularly efficient for re-maps. Fit exhaust first and re-map after makes most sense. If you start mixing different manufacturer's pipes your guarantees are out the window (assuming it's even physically possible!) and you potentially lose the performance benefits that the manufacturer has striven to achieve....Not a good idea imo.

Though I don't own a R32, I hope this helps 169144-ok.gif

Slight correction there Robin - the sports cats are designed specifically for the car they are fitted to, so the current R32 Milltek sports cats are specifically for the Mk4 R32.

If you're going to get a Milltek exhaust fitted (with or without the cats) then definitely get the car remapped as well, preferably by a company that supplies both as they will get the optimum balance of increased power, preformance and economy right. 169144-ok.gif

Roylance,

Are you sure its not a 53 reg? They have a 53 reg in the same spec with approx 19500 miles and I can say 100% that it is a UK car as it is my old one! Sorry for not get on this sooner but have been out of the country on holiday.

The car is bog std but the parking sensors were fitted by the supplying dealer as the wife isnt good at reversing.

The car had also had 6463 upgrade.

Really sorry that you have missed out on this and bought a GTi instead. That is a cracking car and has been very well looked after!

Helfinger - these were genuine after market jobbies supplied, painted and fitted by the dealer before delivery. The set up is exactly the same as the ones a different dealer fitted to my mums Polo, so guess that they may be a genuine VW part. They certainly look like OEM sensors.

Roylance - I seem to remember seeing the car advertised at £18995? After 2 alloy refurbs, 2 new tyres and paint to the back bumper plus the stonechips on the front I think the car would have stood the dealer at about £17k. Factor in £500 overallowance on a px and £500 discount on the deal and the dealer is looking to make 1k on the deal.

Whilst we all want the best deals we can get we must never forget that despite the overpriced servicing etc, the sales departments are not charities and need to make profit.

Please don't think that I am sticking up for dealers, its just that this car is at a fair price compared to what they paid for it.
