Seen the light and bought an Impreza....

Hi guys...

After getting in a lift in the mates WRX, I sold my S3 and bought an import WRX... and what a motor! Much better grip, handling, acceleration and it's a 4-door so can get the nipper in the back.. bonus!

Anyway, being an import, the previous owner changed the speedo to MPH, which works fine but the speedo needle bounces when idling and the electronic mileage flickers on and off. The bloke reckons some cable out the back has popped out and is making contact with the bodywork or some part which is causing the problem.

Now not being mechanically minded, does anyone have a clue if he's talking bullsh!t? I got a scooby dealer round the corner from my work place so was guna pop in there and get them to check it.. but what are they like? expensive, rip off's?

Any help much appreciated.. (will change my picture soon)

Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of Subaru ownership 169144-ok.gif

To be honest, your best bet with this problem is to get yourself over to to scoobynet forum and post it up there.

They have some very knowledgable Scoobarists and will be able to tell you whats what.

BUT you should only do this to discuss the issue you have and then get your ass back here, as we all know this forum is far more interesting and less biased for general car chat etc 169144-ok.gif

I took the car to a subaru dealer and the service salesman point blank refused to help me.. didn't even want to touch the car let alone look at it.. he said because it's an import they dont have parts.. things are different.. just making excuses... going to wait for the old man (been a mechanic for 30yrs) to get back from holiday and take a butchers.. but a bit hard to know how fast im going.. just have to look at the revs.. BUT WHAT A CAR!!!!

LOL - I'm trying to do the opposite!!

Got a UK Turbo (lightly modded) - I LOVE the sound, but now I've got a 2 kids + 2 dogs, it ain't big enough (saloon).

This is the 2nd one I've had, but it's time to grow up a bit - hence my looking for an S4 Avant. This is all hypothetical, as the S4 may be a totally different beast (as I have been reliably informed by the guys on rs246.com)

If so, then on to plan B!! laugh.gif

Enjoy the Scoob - it is a GREAT car. But watch out for that lift-off oversteer:- many a new Scooby driver have fallen victim to it.

(and your problem does sound like a earhting/grounding issue - have a chat with ScoobyClinic, or Forresters Subaru depending where you are)
