sayerbloke
On Jeremy Vine today [12pm - 2pm] they are going to be discussing speeding. Be interesting to see what sort of views get stated...
Milo
I listened to it. The Chief Constable (of an area in Wales?) put up a reasonable defence for his love of speed cameras but I don't think he would have convinced many people that they are a good thing. It was nice to hear him try not to defend the policeman caught doing 159 mph in the Vectra To be fair though, what he said was the police and the CPS did not accept his argument that he was testing the car and in full control because of his advanced driving skills; that is why he was prosecuted. It was the court's decision to let him off, not the police's which is a valid point.
NeilB
It wasn't North Wales Milo was it Milo, With nutter Richard Brunstrom or his replacement at the mic? The CPS are looking into taking that 159mph cop back to court and appealing he sentence given to him.

Milo
[ QUOTE ] It wasn't North Wales Milo was it Milo, With nutter Richard Brunstrom or his replacement at the mic? [/ QUOTE ] That was him A speed camera on every corner was his utopia. Someone rang in and said as male under 25s were the biggest risk group they should raise the age of driving for men to 25 so the boy racer is out of their system before they can get behind the wheel. He actually agreed with the caller and said since his force area had cut crime, the biggest source of public annoyance and complaints was speeding boy racer types. I think he then realised what he'd said and tried to back track saying "of course that would have a crippling social impact" and Jeremy Vine said, "Yes, none of them could get to work." He also advocated handing out speed guns to local communities so they can catch drivers out. He said no fixed penalities would be issued but a warning letter can be sent out. He liked the idea of a 3 strikes system; if you're reported like this 3 times, then you are paid a visit. I'm sorry, but I can see a few busybody pensioners with too much time on their hands getting a right kicking if they start hanging around in dayglo coats trying to catch the local chavs doing 35 in a 30 [ QUOTE ] You've got to ask yourself ehy the courts would decide to let someone off for doing that kind of speed though haven't you..? NeilB
And to think thats our most senior traffic cop, now I want to join the police and wouldnt mind having a go in traffic. But with tossers like that it would frustrate me.
