wanderinghand
Firstly, my heart goes out to everyone who's having to wait a little while longer because of the DSG delay. I think that would cause me to snap with emotion, the excitement is that intense! All I can say is I am convinced it will be worth it - I just love this car more and more each day, and I don't even own one yet! My question is how people think this is affecting those who have ordered manuals (e.g. me). Presumably VW are keeping up the quantity of orders processed and so manuals are coming through that little bit more quickly? Perhaps? I don't think I dare allow myself to think that possibly my car will be arriving sooner than I expected. So what do other people think?
Paddy_Driver
I think German efficiency will win through in the end... not wanting to take the whole football thing into it, but is'nt that what always happens with the German's? Although I did read at the weekend that some of their new football stadiums for WC06 were starting to crack already with too much jumping in the stands! Sorry to stray off topic... but I am right in the thick of the delay cause I ordered DSG last Friday literally a few days after the delay was announced. silentandy
Having worked for a German company for 3 years I can tell you that German efficiency does not apply to all German companies, certainly non of the ones I came into contact with! Tunner
Are the DSG boxes actually built in Germany?
anthonyess
I ordered my manual at the begining of October, just spoken to my contact and the car is expected in 10 - 14 days. Originaly i had a date of end of December. So certinaly in my case they seem to have speeded up. Hopefully you shouldn't be too far away?
RedRobin
Okay, listen up you guys worried about DSG delays on your orders....I have it on good authority today that 1) there is absolutely no problem with the DSG boxes and 2) that DSG production is prioritised for both the Mk5 GTI and Mk5 R32. So it's good news for us and not so good for other models ordered with DSG.

Paddy_Driver
I am confused.. As I ordered my DSG 10 days ago the dealer showed me a memo saying there was a delay "until further notice" so Red, I am hoping what you have heard is updated news? RedRobin
I was told this today and it came from a conversation I was having about the Mk5 R32. VW don't want to delay R32 orders due to DSG shortages and apparently they also feel the same about the GTI.

petsy
the memo I saw last month stated no dsg orders to be taken but it did not affect gtis and r32s.
RedRobin
Well there are some and some more are anticipated. I know it doesn't look as if it's going to be the same success as our GTI.

rowley
My car being delayed now until build week 5, I got a phone call from the dealer today offering me a reflex silver, with 18's and DSG and thats it. Apparently the showroom had ordered it as a demo car and it had arrived today on the transporter. So the dealer thought that I might be interested and would "throw in" the metallic paint for free..... hmm bargain. Anyhow decided not to take it as I want my Red and options.... roll on week 5...
