Frodo
I have now heard from two separate dealers that Audi UK are about to approve a re-map supplier that won't affect the car warranty. Anyone else heard this?
GTI_Boi
That sounds unlikely IMO

Frodo
I agree I have heard it before but it has come from 2 different dealerships from 2 companies. Both said it was on a general memo to all franchises. I guess only time will tell
crasher
Most dealer supplied re-maps are taken on the warranty at the dealers liability/expense. My local dealer (Listers, Worcs) will offer a remap at their 'approved' provider, and will honour the warranty provided you continue to use them as your dealer. shao_khan
Also you have to remeber that technically a dealer who offers remaps to you in theory then assumes liability for the warrenty, because they are ina position of knowledge and should not be offering you a 'dealer option' that is unsafe for the vehicle. [/ QUOTE ] Warranty issues only come into play once you need to claim for something. I wonder how keen they are once this happens. Do you have the policy in writing? What happens if you break down elsewhere? As far as I am aware there are now one or two dealers taking out 3rd party insurance to pay for this sort of thing. The extra cost of getting a remap done through a dealer is similar to going directly to a tuner plus the cost of the insurance plus some mark up. As the end of the day your warranty is still affected by the modification it's just that one dealer will still get involved. It certainly doesn't make it an "approved mod".
